2. um, I don't call this a liberal decision at all
a liberal decision would have banned the DP completely. Actually, if that wasn't possible with the case in front of the court, the court should have made it clear (and they can do this) that they no longer believe in the appropriateness of the Death Penalty at all. This decision endorses the DP for adults, that ain't libral.

Ruling out the death penalty as cruel and unusual would be appropriate long term, though.

8. What's even better is that Rehnquist was one of the 4 that
opposed the ban. So if he goes, we still have 5 that oppose inflicting the death penalty on those 18 and under. (Scalia, Thomas and O'Connor were the other 3)

9. I would like to see them rule that Juveniles cannot be tried as adults.
Sorry, this may be OT, but it's a huge pet peeve of mine in regards to juvenile justice issues.

Even the most basic course in developmental psych explains why.

Children have rights, but they are owed our protection as well.
