"Justices abolish death penalty for juveniles"
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/7051296/

<snip> WASHINGTON - The Supreme Court ruled Tuesday that the Constitution forbids the execution of killers who were under 18 when they committed their crimes, ending a practice used in 19 states. <snip>

<snip>Before Tuesday's ruling, 19 states allowed executions for people under age 18: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania<snip>

<snip>Dianne Clements, president of the Houston-based Justice for All victims’ advocacy group, criticized the decision and said she hopes that when there is a Supreme Court vacancy a strong death penalty supporter is nominated.<snip>

<snip>“The Supreme Court has opened the door for more innocent people to suffer by 16 and 17 year olds,” she said. “I can’t wait for the Supreme Court to have judges more concerned with American values, American statutes and American law than what the Europeans think.”<snip>

:wtf:

3 of those 5 justices were Republican appointees. She should send her complaints on over to them.

8. When's the last time they heard a case regarding...
the execution of the mentally disabled?

Isn't that just as despicable? What say you, George?

And, by the way, what the hell makes the lives of children more important than mine? If they kill me, how is it less cruel or less unusual?

9. Isn't the SCOTUS traditionally very reluctant to overturn one
of their own decisions? That would make them look kinda bad, wouldn't it? So perhaps nominating a strong death penalty supported won't matter much, in regard to this particular decision?

10. No, but if this is a step towards abolishment of capital punishment
elsewhere, those fundies will be shakin' in their boots!
