My brother just brought up an amazing point re: Social Security
If the End Times are coming very soon, and Social Security is solvent until 2054 (or even 2018, as some fanatic right wingers contend), then why are the fundies so hell bent on passing Bush's privatization?

I mean, by the time that Social Security goes bankrupt, won't Jesus already be here? And won't they have been raptured away anyhow?

2. The end is earlier than you think
The Mayan calendar runs out in 2012 around Dec 23, if I recall correctly. Supposedly then the world ends. ;-)

7. LOL, I just adore people who think outside of the box like your brother
We don't need no stinkin' Social Security reform...JESUS IS COMIN'!!

I'm surprised at Herr Bush** and his fundie hordes. How could this minor technical detail -- so ingrained in their belief -- have slipped past them??

13. What a great brother, ComerPero : )
He reminded me that "rapture" comes from the Latin "rapere" -- seizing or abducting -- i.e., taking or stealing.

No wonder the Kleptocracy is so keen on The Rapture.

American Heritage:
PRONUNCIATION: rpchr
NOUN: 1. The state of being transported by a lofty emotion; ecstasy. 2. An expression of ecstatic feeling. Often used in the plural. 3. The transporting of a person from one place to another, especially to heaven.
TRANSITIVE VERB: Inflected forms: rap·tured, rap·tur·ing, rap·tures
To enrapture.
ETYMOLOGY: Obsolete French, abduction, carrying off, from rapt, carried away, from Old French rat, from Latin raptus. See rapt.

14. Good one.
Social Security will be broke about the time the earth is to warm to live on. Then Jebus can catch away his waiting bride and us libruls can be lossed.
