because at work, I can't even download the Real Media player, let alone play its files. And even if I could, I couldn't watch or listen to streaming media anyway. Darn firewall.
I know there's something called Real Alternative, but why bother--I'll just get the same old message about not having administrator permissions to install it. On the other hand, I was able to install Winamp and listen to its streaming radio stations--I thought trying to make that work would be a waste of time, too. Perhaps I can make lightning strike twice.
Oh, goody, Real Alternative installed in my Program Files folder! Now for the moment of truth--get the URL of the Daily Show clip and paste it in. WHOO HOO! It works! Hiya, Jon! Hiya, Dino! Now, if I could only get it to stream so I can stop listening to day-old reruns from the Air America Place archive...
According to the web page where I downloaded Real Alternative, its support of streaming media is spotty at best. Okay then, let's cross our fingers once more. I can't get to the Air America page at all, but the Air America Place page has the Real Media link...I DON'T BELIEVE IT! Hiya, Rachel! Now I won't have to choose between subscribing to Sirius and having my car's brakes checked!
