Maximum pain is aim of new US weapon
THE US military is funding development of a weapon that delivers a bout of excruciating pain from up to 2 kilometres away. Intended for use against rioters, it is meant to leave victims unharmed. But pain researchers are furious that work aimed at controlling pain has been used to develop a weapon. And they fear that the technology will be used for torture.

4. So whats more humane causing them temporary pain
or killing them. It reminds me of a little tidbit of info I erad once. Sweden was looking for a new rifle to arm their military and picked one that shot the 5.56 NATO round. They decided to develop their own round of 5.56mm instead of using the standard NATO SS-109 round because they said the NATO standard round was too lethal.

7. Did you read the article?
"Even if the use of temporary severe pain can be justified as a restraining measure, which I do not believe it can, the long-term physical and psychological effects are unknown."

And who is this "them?" What if the "them" turns out to be a crowd of American protesters, including children? I rather imagine you would have a whole different perspective if you were in the firing line of this utterly barbaric device.

6. Of course it will be used for torture
They are probably testing it at Gitmo and Abu Ghraib as we type.
