We have become the enemy ..... for a very simple reason. We want the truth
Look at what we complain about.

We want a solid 911 investigation of how it happened.

We want to know why we were lied to for the Iraq invasion.

We want to know why Patriot Act was not fought as we lose our rights.

We want to know why the media refuses to "investigative reporting"

We want to know why there is zero accountability for govt budgets.

We want to know why democrats seem to sell-out lately.

and the list goes on.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

My thoughts in this area are as follows. There is a reason. A reason
we are not being told many things.

Imagine for the past number years the US Govt/World knew that the world as we know it -- would change because our "finite oil party" would end in "x number of years".

Could they tell the public -- nope-- there would be a DEMAND for a switch from the American "comsumption way of life"...it would hurt the economy, the world, perhaps the currency, perhaps civil unrest ---- because we have NOT PLANNED or DISCUSSED energy alternatives.

Corporations run the world/govt and jointly control the message of truth (IMHO). You can see what has happened.

* an attack on America (from a 6 8' Arab we can't find in a cave) which now has caused the US to enter the "OIL MECCA" of the world.

* the attack is desired by a public PNAC front that claims US domination of the Middle East is good -- based on freedom.

* and now we find ourselves with a military expense equal to the next 25 countries combined....and we find oursleves broke while countries continue to buy our debt or risk financial chaos.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

The game now is DISTRACTION....how so?

1) National debate on Soc Sec. ...the third rail. Get people sucked into an insane idea that it's bad --- becuase the govt spent the damn money already.

2) Future debate on overhauling the "TAX SYSTEM" ....this would be on radio and TV forever

3) March for global freedom -- in all the countries that have OIL ONLY.

Notice how the UK is passing their Patriot Act version now. Notce how the "terror game and war games " support the rising oil price...while in reality it is supply and demand -- always is.

In 2001 Oil was 50% less than today... Oil companies are lowering their reserves and not able to replace what they are pumping. It's a massive shell game. (google peak oil and get educated)

All powerful countries are doing the same (look at China with Venzeula and Russia...look at India and China). The super powers are all negotiating the "end game for natural resources".

"The powers that be" have made a decision to keep this subject away from discussion and have quite an elaborate "deception" that is quite obvious when you look at the above.

The problem is corporations run our world. The eltie will be protected while the supply erodes and goes dry....that will take decades. But that is not the point --- we have passed or are at the "zenith of oil production"...the possibilities to feed a growing demand by China, India and others while we consume 25% of all oil is a folly (long term.

I think now our march for truth should be:

"Tell me Mr President" what is the US plan for transition from an oil based economy ...what is your plan for renewable energy resources?

1. As Hitler told the Germans; dissent is treason; you should just STFU and
obey Dear Leader.

Which, of course, is exactly what the freeping rethugs chant; dissent = treason, and you should just STFU and obey Dear Leader.

4.  do we engage or do we complain?
The above scenario I paint can be "easily shot down" IF our leadership came forward with a plan in hand.

I doubt that because you barely hear a word in the SOTU. The funding for this effort is simply "not dicussed".

A transition would take time ....and many luxuries we enjoy today would no longer be available

I for one would like answers and less war mongering.

2. WMD's
In the USA, the wmd's are Weapons of Mass Distraction.

These wmd's are very effective and rather deadly... just look at America and Americans these days... true victims operating in the mentality of magical thinking, trying so hard to trust their authority figures and believe in them: "Bush and Co. MUST be doing these things FOR OUR OWN GOOD. It's what we need and deserve, right?"

So sad.

3. Most Americans were misled on these issues
and are now just realizing they have been had. They're in deep denial, and will go through various stages of finger-pointing and blame before they admit they made the wrong judgement in reelecting the clown who lied to them.

5. We have met the enemy and it is us (we) the people who have failed
to hold the three major branches of government, the fourth estate, and Wall Street accountable. We therefore are absolutely getting the government (and the country, its currency, its place in the world) we so richly have earned.

the shame of it is, that there really are relatively simple solutions, that would be good for the economy and create decent jobs, but Bush refuses to lead in this area. Instead he is wasting his time with his manufactured Social Security crisis.

In the meantime check out the Apollo Alliance. We have the ways and means to solve these problems.

11. It means giving up power when you defer to "solar energy" and others
they own and run our govt.

The world has been bulit on big oil for 3/4's of a century....it's tentacles are deeply entrenched in our world politics and more.

be their undoing.

In the meantime the rest of need to get cracking. Just like bloggers are now kicking the butts of the Corp Owned Media, I think we need to make Big Oil go the way of the dinosaur.

13. this is why Patriot Act is here ..to crack down on "us"...the people who
would revolt in the "oil war pursuits".

Transparency is the key. We need this "geological fact" brought up again and again and again....so people can connect the dots.

I don't think other countries will sit by and let the US take/bomb or own the world resoruces.

7. There are a couple of pieces to this puzzle that I cannot fit together.
Edited on Fri Mar-04-05 08:52 AM by sadiesworld
Why would the corporate oligarchy create a new energy-sucking giant, i.e., China? Surely, Poppy of the New World Order understood the Peak Oil ramifications of corporate globalization. What gives?

8. The West forced open China's borders
for trade and globalization long before it was understood how soon (or even if) oil would run dry. Also, they believe the rapture is immanent, so they want to get the most money, power, and pleasure on this world while they can and damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead.

9. Peak oil has been discussed (at least) since the Carter administration.
Edited on Fri Mar-04-05 09:28 AM by sadiesworld
And the oligarchy doesn't believe in rapture, they only worship at the altar of $$$$$$$$.

Of course, it may just be that corporations aren't built for long-term planning.

BTW, Welcome to DU :hi:

Great questions, observations and analysis.

There's more than oil, though it is a foundation stone of the economy.

These folk are fascists. They'll make certain we run out of people before the tank goes dry.
