At least 50 bills now in Congress relate to Bankruptcy

including companion bills for adding 36 new bankruptcy judges. Looks like they are expecting an increase.

Go to keyword search and enter "bankruptcy."

1. This is driving me fucking crazy.

If anyone thinks the thrust of this bankruptcy legislation is to help those in financially tough times get out of them, they are nuts.

This is all about protecting large unsecured creditors, like banks that irresponsibly issue tens of thousands of credit cards to high risks individuals, and how best to make the lives of these creditors, who are heavy campaign contributors to both parties (they certainly donate more money than those who have to declare bankruptcy), easier and more profitable.

2. if anyone is even CONSIDERING filling bankruptcy, better not wait

Start weighing it now and do it before this legislation passes.

According to one of the Dem amendments that was rejected, it appears that credit card companies may be able to go after retiree benefits and other assets that are now exempt under bankruptcy laws.
