Sudan outraged at namesake dye
BBC

The government of Sudan is angry that a cancer-causing dye at the centre of a food scare in the UK is named after the north African country.

Sudan's ambassador has written to the Food Standards Agency, asking it to change the name of Sudan 1 to prevent further harm to Sudan's reputation.

Hundreds of products were withdrawn from UK supermarkets after the illegal dye was used to brighten chilli powder.

Sudan's government is accused of war crimes in the western Darfur region.

2. Oh Wahhhhh!!!!!!!!!
Considering the atrocities committed by this government, they should consider trying to get their own house in order. I think they are being too sensitive. I realize being in east Asia I may not be sensitive enough to the ramifications of the name on thier export capabilities. But, I must say, I'd have more sympathy if their government wasn't such a brutally repressive government that has spent the last decade-plus aiding and fostering genocide in their own country.
