Poll question: Which Southern state should we concentrate the most on?
Edited on Fri Mar-04-05 11:55 AM by Stop_the_War
I think we should concentrate on winning Florida. We must stop the neo-cons from stealing it a third time.

6. Florida has been the closest in the two elections
but I think inroads can be made elsewhere, Virginia, West Virginia, and Arkansas for example.

13. I think those 3 are good
Especially Arkansas and West Virginia.

Both states have 2 Dem Senators & are filled with people who should be Dems.

7. florida because...
the last 2 elections have been so close that if gore or kerry won florida, bush would never have been in office to screw this country over.

8. None of them before we concentrate on Diebold, et al
We can work ourselves blue in the face,m but if those machines dump our votes or come pre-loaded with republican votes, it won;t matter one bit.

There are less than 2 years to get this taken care of, and I don;t have much hope..

The people in charge of changing things, like them just the way they are :(

9. Texas--
We're blowing off NCLB, we've lost lots of kids in Iraqnam, and people feel the hurt he's putting on us.

Unless we fix the voting machines, we're wasting our time though.

10. Depends
The attack on Florida should be a legal one: we can never win there if the people finagling the counts get to keep doing it. Absent the known criminals doing a perp walk, a political strategy for Florida is useless.

Virginia is definitely in play, especially given its large military population that sees the Iraq debacle for what it is. If the Repukes don't run McCain in 2008, Virginia could well go blue. (At least, that's what I voted for in the poll.)

11. We should encourage Texas to secede.
Then Emperor Boobya could have his own turf to bankrupt building it's "defenses" and fighting terra.

16. What about the very Democratic parts of Texas?
Edited on Fri Mar-04-05 12:23 PM by Stop_the_War
As in the parts that border Mexico, and the city of Austin.

All within our grasp if we front a good, solid candidate. Wes Clark at the top and Mark Warner as running mate on a ticket could swing that, I have no doubt.

15. Florida, then Georgia
Move our way upward; as we go it will make it easier to squeeze the remaining red states out from both sides.

19. They are required to win

I have not seen any realistic and workable strategy for a Democrat to win the White House without winning some states in the South. There are too many electoral votes in it. And the republicans have to be forced to spend resources in it.

I would say Florida of course, then Louisiana, Arkansas and Georgia.

As far as the rest we have to try to win what we can win. In Texas we should focus on electing a conservative Democrat to the US Senate. I'd rather have that then two Republicans. You look at Oklahoma, where the conservative Dem almost won. Wouldn't we rather have that then the republican we have from there?

20. And it would mean losing Congress
I have serious doubts we can be the majority party in Congress without any Southerners.
