CNBC online poll: Is Greenspan a political hack?
let's back up Krugman and Harry Reid, and give Alan a big DU vote of no confidence, to be shown on teevee.

http://moneycentral.msn.com/content/CNBCTV/Promos/P111226.asp

Democratic Sen. Harry Reid says the Fed chief is 'one of the biggest political hacks in Washington.'

Sen. Harry Reid on Thursday criticized Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan for urging an early fix of Social Security and throwing his support behind private investment accounts.

During the Clinton years, Reid said, the Fed chief characterized deficits as the biggest problem. "Why doesn't (Greenspan) respond to the Republicans and say that the debt this administration has created (is a problem)?" asked Reid, a Democrat of Nevada.

Two weeks ago, New York Times columnist Paul Krugman criticized Democratic senators for treating Greenspan "as if he were still playing his proper role, acting as a nonpartisan source of economic advice." Krugman concluding his column by saying Geenspan "deserves to be treated as just another partisan hack."

Is Greenspan unduly partisan? Vote in our ballot, then e-mail your thoughts to the team. And watch "Closing Bell" each Monday through Friday from 3-5 p.m. ET.

I was wary after he rooked the Western Shoshone in his state, pushing a monetary settlement in exchange for relinquishing rights to the land . . .

But I like his whippersnapper tone and his argument against republican Greenspan. Grruff!

36. Reid only partly right
In that Greenspan is a hack and in that he is a partisan one. His skewed beliefs and his dishonest performance is that of a high priest of a peculiar shared vision of the world economy- one that does not reflect the best wisdom, needs or aspirations of the human race, is dangerously outdated, reactionary, feeble and accommodating to abusive manipulators ad thus producing the sorry wheedling and tweaking of the astrological pronouncements so as to sustain the unsustainable one more day.

He "worked with" Clinton had become a popular meme for success in the good old days although he was obstructionist then and enabling of the horror show and lousy results now. Bush's team has taken a belligerent buzz saw to the world economy with the same assertion of raw power- not wisdom or rightness. While the Democrats were ready to make things work- no matter how intrinsically flawed the system or Green span, they chose the power switches that would later be seized by Quantum magicians imposing the past on the future, the will on reality, and private gain against the welfare of the rest of the world.

Green span has gone the road of Powell for a long time know with equal ignominy. It flies in the face of this universe to tout the open nonsense of the Bush debacle to keep the rape victim from crying out and getting the throat cut. It is more than a simple hack. It is a criminal far reach that calls into real question for those who value reality any of the tenets Greenspan and his ilk piously preachy to the dummies who fall for it. Nothing sillier than mummery and misplaced romanticism in the cold hard world of digits and cash. It is the senility of capitalism as it rots on its throne today.

For all that Bush can't wait to dump the old goat who can take his doting prestige to his imminent grave while another position of power is locked behind the Looking Glass.

40. Put to the moral test of tests he flunked
by merely doing what he does worst, pander to corporate excesses. The people who have passed the test most of whom shall never see the light of day and the few persecuted ones who have are nowheres near the positions of decisive power.

These are bad times for the word "leadership".

49. yes, the worst because he knows a lot better. He should be kicked out
Bush had to be paying him somehow or promising him something. He lost all credence under Bush; completely switched his positions on basic financial and economic principles that he espoused when he worked under Clinton.

Reid put him in his place: hack is a very fine description of what Greenspan became under Bush.

Love Krugman. Why is he the only one that makes any sense about the absurdities of the economic policies of the nitwit and his evil troop, yet the only one who is rarely asked by the corporated media to be a guest on their shows? He has the ability to express economics in a way that most people can understand. It would seem they would clamor for his explanations.

Oh, wait....I know the answer to that already....never mind.
