What Astroturf (fake grass roots) groups could the left make?

What sorts of groups could we help get founded to help fracture the Republican party?

One group that comes to mind would be for people who HATE ABORTION (they think its murder) and therefore work to get CONGRESS to fund programs to help people not get pregnant. "Pro Lifers against Unwanted Pregnancy" or something like that. No unwanted pregnancies, no Abortions.

Do you think this could take some wind out of the sails of the radical Christian conservatives?

They're pure green sod.

Groups that we get started somehow, on the sly, for the right wing, who persue issues that are detrimental to the establishment right wing.

They might not even be astroturf.

But the idea is that we have somehow get Republicans to make groups that aid our agenda and sow division among thier ranks.

Its underhanded (Rovian) and i think it would be effective.

Like Pro lifers who are trying to put the focus on preventing unwanted pregancies

OR pro-tax cut people who urge Republicans to focus the tax cuts on the middle class and not the rich

My idea is to plant seeds that will start grass root activism on the Right that neutralizes them somehow.

These groups would have the cover of being Republican and could sow things we believe in, and help push the Republicans to the left.

Regressive radio will echo every White House talking point endlessly until it's pounded into the public consciousness. We need a progressive equivalent.

But we do need a lot of grass roots email address books to solidify support at the street level and get the talking points out.

Perhaps if we had a forum for such things we could all pick and choose from the best we have to share. Cut & paste the best stuff into our grass roots address lists.

Fake (non satirical) sites are their bullshit. We are adults; we have the truth on our side. We need to put away childish things: like Utopian ideals of total socialist markets because that doesn't even exist in Nordic countries. We need to be adults and not knee-jerk react. Otherwise the monsters in the WH have one and we end up just like the freepers and mirror the character of George W. Bush ourselves (he who is sadistic & mean & hateful but believes himself to only be good and his political enemies the liberals to be all bad). He is delusional. So are his followers.

We do not bait, trick, torture, or follow the adolescent behaviors his followers do. If we do - then the monsters have turned us into their sheep.

The cancer that is the Bush-led Republican party aren't quite to that point yet. But the fear that they are headed in that direction is what most motivates me to be involved and fight back.

The left needs to explore every avenue available to us. We must fight this battle on all fronts. We are fighting the rise of Tryanny on US Soil.

You think about how you want to respond. You do not copy their brownshirts and tricky tactics. You dig deep and humanely and you fight them in the ways you need to. You use all the might and intelligence you have as a human being and a group of human beings to fight them from attacking your rightful boundaries as a human being. But you do it by identifying your boundaries and by being smart about how to fight back to defend yourself. You keep to the truth because that is what you are in fact fighting for. You do not get goated into giving up the parts of yourself (the truth, your love of markets that create a middle class, the liberal ideal that democracy should be encouraged the world over)to them that they want. You be smart. You do not react to them without thinking because they use that "reaction" to control you. And then you are a sheep too ... using the same adolescent & baiting/hating tools they use. And you have just internalized George Bush & his ilk into your soul.

That is how you beat the monsters. You are an adult. They rely of childlike behavior of their sheep. They rely on a disconnect between their followers actions and the pain it cause the victims. You are an adult. You know when your actions hurt someone... and you only use those tools when you have to.

That is how you fight (as an adult). That is how you win (as an adult). So go do some homework right now and get rid of knee-jerk and utopian ideals. You will fight the 'black & white' sheep using the 'shades of grey' thinking of an adult.

Why the hell do you think Republicans made such fun of Liberals going to psychologists to deal with the loss of the election? Because they do not want you to grieve and come through the loss on the other side with a deeper and more meaningful understanding of what it means to be human and have monsters in your life. That adult with adult wisdom is Karl Rove's worst enemy. They make fun and target in Liberals what they are afraid of most.

That is why you see Democratic leaders 'picking & choosing' their battles.

Weak liberals like you keep our party the party of weakness. We have to be the nice party. This is why red states don't like us. We are the party of mommy in a country that values masculinity and strength.

If the left doesn't learn how to fight aggressively against the RIGHT to push back thier power (growing for 30 years now) what we'll end up is Regan 3.0 populist fascist. And they'll seize total power when given the opportunity.

The left is in no danger of going fascist. Look into history a little about where Fascism came from.

The right doesn't want us to fight hard and they manipulate our leadership and the media to ensure we stay weak.

The LEFT needs to fight smarter and more aggressively. There isn't going to be some magic moment where the country comes out of a haze and realizes what's been going on. We need to bitchslap them senseless until they see it.

I think if we spoke in person I could make more clear what I mean. For example I agree you must choose your battles you fight in public. I just mean we need to diversify the tactics we use on the left to undermine the right.

I think we must be at a higher stage when we all agree some strong action needs to be taken but we now are negotiating what that means...

the Reagan re-election campaign actually received a donation from a "shadowy" group calling itself something like Crack Dealers For the War On Drugs. The point was to describe how the War On (Some) Drugs effectively hampers competition in that market, allowing the existing drug dealers to act as a cartel and rake in tons of money. The Reaganauts were not amused. I venture to guess the Bushies wouldn't be either.
