Rep. Tom Feeney (R-Fla.) is hosting a fundraiser Wednesday at the Capitol Hill Club to celebrate the last broadcast of veteran "CBS Evening News" anchor Dan Rather, who has long vexed conservatives with what they see as a liberal bias.

The "C'est La Vie Comrade Rather" event - for the benefit of Tom Feeney for Congress - will be held from 5-7 p.m., during which attendees will watch Rather's final newscast at 6:30.

He indicated that more such attention-getting events may be on the way, courtesy of his campaign. He said he has in mind a series of tongue-in-cheek awards to be bestowed annually on liberal flies in the conservative ointment.

They may include the "Robert Byrd Cultural Sensitivity Award for Treatment of Minorities," the "Howard Dean Rhetoric Award for Understated Eloquence," the "Ward Churchill Academic Defense of America Award" and, not to forget the reason for Wednesday's party, the "Dan Rather Journalism Award."

If you are not familiar with this creep, he is the one who made fun of Al Gore publicly in an restaurant when he was Florida's Speaker of the House. He is arrogant and rude, Florida's version of Tom DeLay.

He also led the Florida Senate in dismissing the Florida electors and reappointing new ones who would vote for Bush if Gore succeeded in taking Florida in 2000. The man's a fool.
