I'm about to begin my Anti-Bu$h movie night!
Edited on Fri Mar-04-05 10:24 PM by pstans
Up first is "Unconstitutional: The War on Our Civil Liberties" about the real story behind the (Un-)Patriot Act. Next will be "Bush's Brain" about who really is running the country. My money is on KKKarl Rove or those sickos from the PNAC. And to finish the night off is "Outfoxed: Rupert Murdoch's War on Journalism" about how Murdoch has created a media empire that is anything but fair and balanced.

I had hoped to get "Uncovered: The War in Iraq" but my local movie store didn't have it. Besides Fahrenheit 9/11, which I had already seen, these were pretty much the only Anti-Bush movies they had.

Well, the popcorn is ready, so I am off to the couch. I'll let you know how the movies were.

1. Just finished Unconstitutional

It was pretty damn scary. I jotted down some quotes. They aren't exact quotes, I just tried to get the basic jist of the statements.

"This isn't an issue of left or right, but an issue of our basic freedoms." How is that for framing.

"The US is different from other countries. We are not like France, England, or Japan and bound by 1 common race or religion. We are bound by principles, most importantly democracy, fairness, and rule of law."

"Think not just what we are fighting against, but what we are fighting for." I think that would be a great motto for Democrats.

"These core values that us as a country are what make us strong as a nation, they are not a weakness." The same could be said for the values of the Democratic party because those values are the values the country was founded on.

During the credits they played the poem about first they came for the Jews, and I did not stand up for them... then they came for me and there was no one to stand up for me. But they changed it to everything the Patriot Act took away.

2. Just finished Bu$h's Brain
And that makes me think that Rove is even more evil that I had thought. It interesting to see that Rove's dirty tatics dated all the way back to the early 70's when he was elected head of the College Republicans and became part of the RNC that was headed by George H. W. Bu$h.

6. There are 2 other movies I want to see
There are 2 other movies I want to see, I just need to find a way to get them. The first is End of Surburbia (http://www.endofsuburbia.com/). It is about the end of cheap oil in America. The other is Uncovered: The war on Iraq.

5. I watched Outfoxed this afternoon.

It was a good movie and very informative. Murdoch reaches 4.7 billion people worldwide through his media outlets. That is a heck of a lot of people.

The majority of the movie is how Fox makes their news(?) sound fair and balanced and the tricks they use. I didn't like O'Reilly before watching this movie, but I never realized how big of hack he really is. He is a bully that only likes to hear himself talk.

But anyway, I think I am going to try and call my cable company and get Fox News blocked on my TV. I will tell them that it isn't suitable for the kids to watch!

This movie is definitly worth seeing.

7. I have to finish
Bush's Brain. I saw only the first 15 minutes of it through Comcast's On Demand (BTW this and "Uncovered" are both available for free on Comcast's On Demand).

It's really interesting and shows what a slimey cretin Rove has been from the very begining.
