yellow ribbons and suv type vehicles
Funny I have read here months ago about the yellow ribbons on cars - well over the last few months I have been driving in several states and it is incredible - 95% or more are only on suv, van, or big tire trucks - very few ribbons on small vehicles

I was amazed - they are truly supporting troops for gas

1. Duh?
What did you think this whole "war on terror was about"????
You are amazed?? Did you honestly think that it was in retaliation for 9/11?? Go drink some more kool-aid.

2. There are a lot of SUVs and other large vehicles around my vicinity.
I notice a fair amount of them have those stickers on their vehicles. More have them now than let's say 2 months ago. Maybe those silly stickers relieve their consciences that they are driving the behemoths ( although I doubt if they make a connection between wasting petroleum and the war). Or this is their attempt to show how patriotic they are? I have been tempted to ask some neighbors why they have those on the vehicles. I am sure I would get a quizzical look.

3. At the car-wash.
My partner saw the car-wash manager hanging one of those ribbons on his metal door. The whole door was full of them. It seems when people wash their vehicles, they blow those things clean off. Happens in the automatic wash too. The manager hangs them on the door so anyone can come back and pick theirs up.

Funny.

"So who is profiting off these ribbons? Are they using the proceeds to send armor or supplies to the troops, or just skimming some $$$ off the clueless?"

Great question, I think.

edited because I forget how to spell sometimes

5. Few have only 1 ribbon here. Most
have 2 or 4.

Earlier this week, I was driving the speed limit in
the middle lane when this huge monster just about
drove up my butt.

He passed on the left and then cut in front of me.

2 ribbons.

Oh yeah, he was wearing a beret. Dark colored. FWIW
