1. I prefer George over Art
Art's ego has gotten out of control.
I only listen depending on who he has on.

28. Me too.
George gets much more out of his guests. He's willing to listen and let them tell their story. Art tries to steer his guest toward the paranormal and many of them don't want to go there.

His name came up during the course of this Gannon/Guckert thing I'm looking into.

Thanks!

I usually only pay attention when they talk about real science stuff. Like when Michiu Kaku is on. I've been listening for about 10 years.

I have to admit that I also like when Art has the Ghost Investigators Society on and they listen to the EVP's.

It's pretty entertaining.

33. lol! I do too! I have streamlink and will then listen to the shows if
I'm interested the next day while working. If they're really good, I download them.

I prefer George over Art by far. I did get upset though during the election race with streamlink. They had a very rightwingnut news broadcast that was pure Bushpropaganda. I wrote a scathing email to George. I included that I was paying to listen to the show and not the swill they were passing off as news. He said he had no control over it. I wrote back to him saying of course he did! Very shortly afterwards those "news"casts vanished.

I know it's unthinkable, me being a Ham Radio Guy and all, not to LOVE Art Bell, but I don't.

I don't like Al Martin, either. Too much tinfoil in both their hats.

32. Yeah, I know he's a Ham.
That's just it. All you find on the airwaves these days are "No-Code Extras" who discuss one of 3 things: the "truth" they heard on Art Bell or Rush Limbaugh and "Hitlery".

Oh, I forgot the DX stations who must be thinking "These people are in the middle of a Totalitarian takeover, and all they give a fuck about is 'Five-Nine, QSL via Burro, Ciao-Ciao, Good Dee-Exx!'..."

"Fun Stuff"...You could say the same thing about Sean Hannity, couldn't you? After all, when Gush Pfleghmball gets his ass in a sling, he declares "But, I'm just an ENTERTAINER!", doesn't he?

I don't find psuedo-science the least bit funny. Not when so many ignorant people take it as Truth.

8. Art Bell -- the man I love to hate
I have to tune in for his ever burgeoning ego. ;-) Plus, there might be something truly weird on, like the night some guy called in claiming to be the Anti-Christ. Interestingly enough, some other guy called up shortly afterwards also claiming to be the Anti-Christ.

I am cheap to, but it averages out to $5 a month, 30 shows per month, so real cheap. I download them month by month and burn em to cd to listen to later (like at work, etc). Hard to stay up until 1am (est) and listen until 5am, so the few cents per show is worth it to me. If I ever get to retirement age and don't have to get up at 7am, I will be up late at night listening to his show (was nice when I lived in California and it was on at a decent hour!).

18. I can't say I'm a fan...
...but I have had occassion to be thoroughly entertained.

I had occassion to do a lot of driving in the midwest right after 9-11 (mostly from the Detroit airport to a small town halfway to Indianapolis). One gets tired of the same-old on the radio, so for a lark I tuned into AM radio. Let me tell you my friends, insanity reigns in America, and its home is AM radio!!

I recall listening to Art Bell one night. Again, this was shortly after 9-11. He had some women on who claimed to be able to feel the vibrations of impending doom. The universe was going to end, but there was still a chance, she said, if everyone aligned their personal vibrations for good. In this mix was Art Bell's baritone voice. Between the two of them it was hypnotic, entrancing, rising and falling in post-9-11 heartfelt emotion -- folk art of mythological proportion! I enjoyed it immensely!

At the same time (earlier in the evenings) I was picking up some nut right-wing preacher from some San Antonio station, David J Smith (?). He caught my attention because he is so anti-Bush (anyone anti-Bush can't be all bad, right?). Unbelievable paranoia and just dripping in delightful conspiracy theories about the Illuminati, GHWB's march to a One World Armegeddon, and how every bad historical event was prophesied in the Bible. I never heard such great Halloween Ghost Stories, and what talent in the telling!

Both Art Bell and David J Smith talk complete malarky (at least when I caught them during those nighttime drives in the Midwest), but they were thoroughly thoroughly fun to listen to! Pure delight!

But, again, insanity reigns in America and its voice can be found on AM radio! Those of you outside the states -- you have no idea!!

20.  I used to enjoy coast to coast, but
I noticed that they were willing to entertain any off the wall theory about ANYTHING, JFK, Roswell, demonic possession, crop circles, mind control, HARP, weather control, remote viewing, etc. All of these (except maybe demon possession) contain the possibility and, if true, the almost certain involvement of the U.S. government in a cover up, but whenever there are callers who ask about anomalies and concerns about the events surrounding 9/11 or the elections, they BOTH state that there is no way the government could be involved in that! No Way!

Art is a Libertarian. I can respect that. He has a lot of reservations about the war. George is a Right Wing apologist. Whenever he reports the news segment of the show, it is so fox-like it's scary.

22. I don't like george as an interviewer 90% of the time n/t
he's not particularly well researched about his guests or the subject matter unless it happens to be a personal interest of his. That's how it seems to me anyway. I know it's tin hat stuff but you should still present a professional show.

30. i prefer art over george for the same reason....
noory is definetly a wingnut, but he is pretty fair to the guests and the callers.

i love the show anyhow...one of the only programs i can stomach on our wingnut daytona station 1150 WNDB....the jim bohannon show being the other. and luckily enough, coast to coast follows bohannon's show at night. bohannon is another wingnut, albeit a more moderate one...he does not censor calls either, and has a lot of diverse guests on.

And sorry this is long, but I'm a damn fan....

Last year, when I had a business meeting in Las Vegas, I drove to Pahrump, NV. (In the county of Nye!)

Just to look around, don't you know.

My fascination with Las Vegas ended long ago. I don't gamble and I've flown a (Eurocopter) EC-135 over it. NBD.

Anyway, I drove to Pahrump. I bought a newspaper, some gas, and a candy bar. I then drove by the radio station. Bumpy, non-paved roads. Nobody out and me in the rent car feeling like a tourist.

(But I knew that just a few months before, a huge triangular air ship quietly floated over Art's house.)

They own a really good MOR (radio station, KNYE-95.1 FM http://www.kingdomofnye.com/fan_index.html)

that plays music with Art reading local commercials for dentists and grocery stores. That kind of local thing. Quite nice.

I did NOT meet Art or his lovely wife, but just being there was pretty cool.

I love Art, especially late in the night. Art's raspy cigarette voice over the radio is like music to my ears; my fire is crackling in the chiminea, in the back yard new toads are jumping into the pond, my dog is at my feet, and a large glass of wine is on the table. Nothing is better...until the theme music....

Midnight Express What a rush. My wife shakes her head and goes to bed.

Sometimes, when the Sony SW radio is out, I tune into the ham radio band that Art talks to his buddies on. You can find it at...

http://www.qrz.com/callsign.html?detail=w6obb

3.840 L.S.B. (make sure you can do lower side band on the radio)

It's pretty cool. As he says ...

"Feel free 2 drop in"

The last line is Art's words, and he means it.

29. Many of the guests are anti-BFEE.
So this program plants seeds in it's listeners minds. It's really about listening to all kinds of people talking about subjects that are censored or ridiculed by the MSM. We are then free to weed our own garden... making up our own minds about what is bunk and what has merit. It's about curiosity and the freedom to think for yourself. I think it's a healthy, democratic endeavor.

My wife thinks I'm wacko!

31. Art has been hinting on going Satelite for awhile now
Either XM or Sirius. He said one of the big reasons he retired early, next to having sever back pains, was the amount of commericals he had to sit through on a night to night basis.I hope this is true. (& I hope he'll pick Sirius)I think Art on Satelite will be awsome!Just wish he'd pick up the pace & do it.

37. Good Points!
I find myself listening to him and asking "why has the MSM not covered this at all?" and when they do they ridicule it all. Now some of it is way out there, but listening to his show one realizes how much is really out there to cover in some way or another that never sees the light of day (and it is sort of like DU in that way).

Thanks for the post!

41. Not a fan...
I never hear it any more, but the right-wing station in back in Miami used to play it, and I'd occasionally hear it at night.

Seems designed to draw people into silly conspiracy theories and UFO/ghost/ESP wild goose chases, and spends almost NO time on all the very real, and very OPEN conspiracies being carried out on this country on a daily basis.

I suppose it's okay iff you look at it as pure entertainment a la "the X Files".

But I don't take much of it seriously.
