Link to Map of Active US Hate Groups
My daughter told me about this site. I was rather shocked at how many hate groups are shown on the map, especially in the SE.

1. What does "Christian identity" mean?
It's listed as a hate group.

the Christian Skinhead groups believe twisted versions of the bible and they think thier racial purity and traditions are gonna be wiped out by a joint conspiracy of hate by the blacks and jews

7. That is what most consider the beginning of the white supremicist movement
It is the belief that white Christians (not Jews) are the chosen of God. Jews are, according to this belief, are biologically decended from Lucifer himself. People of color were brought up from the earth and have no souls.

They believe that rapture will not occur until the world is free from all Satanic influences (until they kill off everyone except other white Christians like themselves).

9. Here is your answer
The Christian Identity religion asserts that whites, not Jews, are the true Israelites favored by God in the Bible. In most of its forms, Identity theology depicts Jews as biologically descended from Satan, while non-whites are seen as soulless "mud people" created with the other Biblical "beasts of the field." Christian Identity has its roots in a 19th-century English fad called British Israelism, which asserted that European whites were descended from the ten "lost tribes" of Israel and were thus related to Jews, who were descended from the other two Hebrew tribes mentioned in the Bible. But British Israelism, which was initially friendly to Jews, was adopted and transformed in the 20th century into a rabidly anti-Semitic creed by a number of racist preachers in the United States.

For decades, identity has been one of the most important ideologies for the white supremacist movement. In its hardest line form, it asserts that Christ will not return to earth until the globe is swept clean of Jews and other "Satanic" fluences. In recent years, deep doctrinal disputes, the lack of a central church structure, and a shift among white supremacists towards agnosticism and racist variations of neo-Paganism have weakened the Identity movement and reduced the number of its adherents.

25. Alarming?
I think that is a nice word...these people are terrifying! What is even scarier is they blend into the general population. So many people on their hit list, and most predictably, the Jews!

16. Christian Identity is a bizarre fundamentalist racist 'church', Closely
connected with Aryan Nations. Weird stuff like the 'aryan' race are the true Israelites, that Jews are the offspring of satan, yada yada. They get a lot more credibility than they should because of the 'christian' trappings.

4. Hate groups are on the rise
Edited on Sat Mar-05-05 12:42 AM by ultraist

The Anti-Defamation League also has some good info on HATE groups:
http://www.adl.org/learn/ext_us/

It has lists of groups, symbols and event schedules

For example:
CI
These letters stand for Christian Identity, which holds that white Europeans—not Jews—are the real Biblical "Chosen People," that the white race is inherently superior, that Blacks and other nonwhite races are soulless "mud peoples" on the same level as animals, and that Jews are descendants of Satan.

27. Hard to get around, man.
If you've got to ride your bike 15 miles or climb a mountain to get to your neighbor's hate meeting, it ruins the whole thing. By the time you get there, you've already worked off your aggression and you just want a soda and a burrito.

Posse Comitatus has members in the UP, and so does at least one skinhead group (I forget which one--WAR, maybe). At least, they did about 15 years ago when I was in high school.
