I've frequented antiwar.com, and my respect for libertarianism has grown

My feelings regarding the merits of the welfare state are quite different from theirs, yet I see in this faction a cadre of allies who, though hostile towards democratic socialism, are nonetheless small "r" republicans. Interestingly enough, I find myself agreeing more with them than many liberals on the nature of our imperialist ventures: I saw nary an apologia for the "idealistic" Wilson, or Truman, for that matter, and that insidious national security state he and the Cold War liberals constructed.

I have to say, I like these guys.

Great post! We need to concentrate not on where our ideas differ, but on the big, life sized issues where we agree.

Listen, people, real conservatives hate this admin. more than any other group. Why? First, like us, for what they do, second because they do it in the "conservative" name. Real conservatives have double the reason to despise the neoCONs.

Antiwar.com is a great site. Some columnists are sometimes too anti-Israeli for my tastes, but they really are a great asset and ally to the anti-imperialist, ant-war cause.

I agree with these guys mostly on foreign policy stuff. We should, if anything, join forces with them to take out the neocons.

I'm a libertarian, i even supported the libertarian party before it
threw its lot in with bush. Now i can only pray they come to realize
that the GOP shares no common values with a libertarian.

libertarianism is the only coherent conservative political philosophy
that "could" share power with DU liberalism. The areas in question
are generally like public schools, national medical and such. In this
regard, i am inclined to see "my liberty" as inclusive of all human
beings having their human right to a common education and health care.

It might pay to spend some consideration as to exactly how liberal
libertarianism can coherently be explained to more hardline libertarians
that they can be better wooed to the cause.

Unfortunately lots of people running around claiming
Libertarian are war mongering nationalistic Republican
idiots.

The main thing that I like about antiwar.com is Justin
Ramondo's relentless exposing of the inter workings of
the neo-cons and the rise of red state fascism.

I prefer a balanced mix of anti-authoritarianism so don't
have a problem with left or right wing economics as long
as it is not statist and militaristic. A mixed economy
is what I think works best and right-wing economics that
denies corporate person-hood is fine with me. It is the
corporatists that are the big threat to freedom in this
world. The degenerate spawn of Ayn Rand is what makes
Libertarianism unpalatable compared to left libertarianism.

Like many progressives, I see the value of (and need for) a safety net.

But, I do like the libertarian philosophy that there are several areas where our government has no business getting involved.

he is one of the best writers on the net. I find myself agreeing with him quite a bit, and his writing style is very fluid.
