I knew it! 'Academic Freedom' is just a push to turn America...
into a Dictatorship!

One of the arguments that the RW'ers use when they want to separate politics from education is that they don't want young minds indoctrinated by teachers.

Well apparently, the RW'ers want to allow Churches to endorse candidates, how is that for indoctrination?!

If we don't do something, you can kiss America goodbye. We have to defend true Academic Freedom on our schools and universities and we have to Liberalize religious bodies.

1. Churches
openly endorse right wing candidates here. At least, I know of one instance where a boy was in the college computer guided studies center looking up information for his church on candidates to vote for. Not long after that, he was handing out Christian Coalition flyers. I wish I knew a lawyer or two. There are tons of laws violated and not punished.

2. its done in closed quarters
on sunday service, where only members and not heathens like me are allowed to see it. In the giant 'six flags over jesus' baptist church here, they were apparently registering republicans to vote. It is definitely done all the time. I think this is a stupid move by this guy, because now we get to debate whether organizations like this can keep their tax exempt status.

4. Here too
Several of my BF's relatives were told in church that they couldn't take communion if they didn't support Bush, since Kerry was pro-reproductive rights. Voting for Kerry was equated to supporting murder (but Bush's death penalty record in TX was never discussed, I'm sure).

3. Tear down the wall of Separation between Church and State
the way the rwingers would like and let's see what would happen. Government regulation of religion. Once the wall is gone, religion is now a part of government. But then government is now a part of religion. They can't have one without the other. Wanna see Jimmy Dobson get taxed to hell and back and regulated? Personally I can't wait.

5. I think James Dobson knows that
which is why this will never happen. He knows he can get away with it now, and he certainly doesnt want to pay taxes. And no church in America wants to pay property taxes.

btw on a side note, one of the best college football games ive ever seen, Drew Tate is heisman frontrunner next year!
