Bush lives in "fantasy land" if he thinks he can sell his idiotic SS plan
Fortunately most Americans are far too smart to buy into this fake "Social Security Crisis" the Bush administration is trying to pull on everyone.

I am 24 and even I know that the President's SS plan is idiotic. One ACTUALLY good way to help SS is to up the payroll tax from 90,000.

Not surprisingly Republican losers like Tom Delay and fat boy Dennis Hastert are against that because it means they and thier wealthy friends would have to pay more into SS…god forbid wealthy people would pay money to help out the average American.

1. SS is a smokescreen so they can pass the draconian bankruptcy
bill and that gawd awful "budget" that doesn't add in any of the military costs

the hand waving SS "reform" keeps us busy while the right hand picks our pockets

2. Bush won't have to sell it...
He'll just have Tom DeLay corral the lawmakers in the House until they vote his way. Simple.

15. Andy I'm happy to see you in the spirits to post.
I agree with you but was chastised by a fellow du'er the other day concerning SS and congresses paying into it. They also have their own medical insurance... Despicable bunch wouldn't you say. Any way have a good day.

4. Americans to smart? I don't know about that
These are the same people who bought the fake WMD crisis and the Medicare "reform" and just reelected this idiot to four more years. Bush has gotten everything he has wanted so far and I see no reason why this won't pass also.

5. I thought the same thing about the invasion of IraqNam
He's down, but not out.

Please everyone, do not count this as a victory, yet. I'm hopeful this blitheringly idiotic shell game can be defeated, and its looking better, but watch out.

The media is owned by the neo-cons, and they sold the country on IraqNam and other idiocy, so do not underestimate them.

6. wasn't it HL Mencken who said
that nobody ever went broke betting on the stupidity of the American people?

If we win this battle I think that it is more an example of incredible arrogance and overreach coming up short. Rove will be more careful next time.

8. SS should be paid on all wages...
and take the extra money to raise the benefits for the people receiving the least.

11. We don't have a SS problem, we have a debt problem.
The dems should stand firm on not making the * tax cuts permanent thereby allowing the debt owed SS to be repaid in the manner in which it was borrowed.

BTW, welcome to DU :hi:

9. So, what else is new?
Another analogy to this situation is when Hitler had these crazy ideas on how to carry on a war on three fronts simultaneously. His generals and military advisors disagreed violently with the idea. They were veterans of the First World War and were graduates of fine military academies and understood theories concerning warfare. Hitler was a mere corporal in WWII and had no experience commanding troops. A group of renegade officers tried to assasinate Hitler in order to save the German Army, but failed.

Even if Tom DeLay himself were to tell * that his SS plan is unworkable, it wouldn't make a difference. * has the hubris and the arrogance to see it through as he believes to back off is a critical sign of weakness (as opposed to he really believes what he says).

13. Doesn't have to be sold: Repugs will vote in virtual lockstep for anything
a Republican president wants or wants to do, no matter how devastating to the economy, the fiscal soundness of the government, the environment, the rule of law, or world order.
