Computer help needed
I'm looking to buy a DVD/RW drive and I want to know the difference between these 2 drives other than price.

Thank you.

1. My suggestion
is that you type the make and model number into Google with the word problems and see who may be bitching about it.

I don't know what kind of pc you have, but the first one seems geared to take older machines BUT I don't see the minimum requirement.

2. Something else you might try.
Go to www.newegg.com and check out their prices on external DVD/RW drives. They also have reviews with each product. They have excellent prices too.

4. Virtually no difference
in the performance.

However do note that the NEC as is listed here is actually an internal drive with a 3rd party external kit. The external NEC model equivalent to this (NEC-ND-3500A, I believe) is still less expensive than the Sony - approx. $97 w/free shipping.

Neither price listed here is an outstanding bargain, so don't think you need to hurry. Any number of places have a similar price.

Look around until you find a couple of models you're comfortable with, probably Sony, Plextor, HP, some others. Then try http://www.pricewatch.com/ to find a seller or know what a reasonable price should be. Lowest price is often not the best. Happy burning!
