In Italy Protest... "Bush Shame on You!" They know whom to blame!
Edited on Sat Mar-05-05 12:54 PM by leftchick

An unidentified man holds up a flyer reading 'shame on you, Bush' in front of the United States consulate during a Communist Refoundation Party (PRC) demonstration in Milan, Italy, Saturday, March 5, 2005, after the release in Baghdad of Italian journalist Giuliana Sgrena. Sgrena was freed in Iraq (news - web sites) Friday evening and later was wounded when American troops fired on the car she was in, also killing an Italian intelligence officer. where thay had already passed all of the checkpoints to the airport. This was the last and they were not speeding. That is the Italian hostages version so it probably won't mean much to you.

<snip>"The Americans and Italians knew about (her) car coming," Pier Scolari said on leaving Celio hospital.

"They were 700 meters (yards) from the airport, which means that they had passed all checkpoints."

Friday`s shooting was heard by Berlusconi`s aides who were on the phone with one of the intelligence officers, said Scolari. "Then the US military silenced the cellphones," he charged.

"Giuliana had information, and the US military did not want her to survive," he added.

When Sgrena was kidnapped on February 4 she was writing an article on refugees from Fallujah seeking shelter at a Baghdad mosque after US forces bombed the former Sunni rebel bastion.

2. So, who was holding this woman all this time?
I guess that's a stupid question. Hope she's careful.

3. When I was in Italy 16 years ago, the Italians LOVED us...
now, I hate to think how I would be treated over there now. Makes me sick!

7. My daughter was there last June
She became Canadian, too. She participated in the HUGE protest against Bush at the Vatican during his visit there. She wrapped herself in a rainbow peace flag and carried a Bush = baby killer sign. I was so proud. :)

8. A friend of mine went over there about a year ago
she walked around carrying "My Life" by Clinton, people saw that and were nice to her! :) That book is too heavy (still trying to finish it myself) - it would be a lot easier to say I'm Canadian!
