Do you ever wake up in the morning
and say "I can't handle the news anymore"? I am frustrated and guess a little depressed with the daily news. I feel like I'm being screwed everyday. Damn, everything is being taken away from me!

6. I don't watch the news
just read DU and listen to ARR and other progressive radio. My gosh if I watched FOX or CNN I would bury myself some place.

13. The news in Az is not any better.
I'm really bummed with the new gun law here. So now those who have guns can carry them in bars, yes, just what we need more drunks carrying guns.

7. Gosh,
maybe I should do like the bears, but go into hibernation until 2008. If you are not rich, you are screwed.

8. Sometimes, ya just need to take a break
from it all - from the tv, news, even the internet - just to find yourself and your center again, a little sanity, give your body a break from the continusous adrenelin pumping the outrage causes, a couple - 3 - 4 days, however long you can stand it.

Getting a historical perspective helps, too - realizing that our country has gone through horrible and repressive times before but has come out of them, helps give a sense of hope.

The abuse of power that is going on is very hard for many of us to take. You are not alone in your reactions to it, many are suffering mentally, emotionally and economically through the actions of this administration. But sometimes, just getting away from the constant barrage of the news helps a lot.

9. Last couple days have been bad
I thought the news was bad, but the last couple days have been worse. I have to check briefly and then get off because it is soooooo damn bad. F*ck! So I check out the DU Lounge and get a bit cheered up but it still seems forced.

For a while the news was bad and was showing the hypocracy of the bushites, and I laughed and shook my head. Now it's back to death and destruction and my gut clenches and I think "how the hell did so many people vote him into power? Don't they realize this is about survival?" and then I get off the internets.

10. Funny you should mention that.

I got up on Tuesday and didn't even turn on the radio. I was so fed up with bad news I went three whole days without reading or listening to any news at all. Sometimes you just gotta take a break from all the crap.

11. Yes, daily. And when I do turn on the news I get mad because they
are only covering diversionary stories, like the Michael Jackson case.

One day the sheep will awaken ... but by then it will be too late.

:argh:

16. I had begun
Edited on Sat Mar-05-05 05:28 PM by Greylyn58
to curb my news sources before the elections as I was becoming increasing upset with the type of junk I was seeing day in and day out in the news.

After the elections I just received my news from DU, AAR and Keith Olbermann. The rest aren't worth my time or effort. Still aren't.

I feel as you do. I find it hard not screaming out loud for this nation to wake the hell up.

It's funny, I was watching the movie The Fall of the Roman Empire and the closing monologue said something that I'm afraid might be our fate if we don't wake up.

"A great civilization is not conquered from without until it has destroyed itself from within."
