1. In many locales, making the lives of the doctors so miserable
Edited on Sat Mar-05-05 01:41 PM by A HERETIC I AM
by stalking them, threats to their families etc. that they close their practices. Intimidating contractors during the building phase of a Planned Parenthood facility in Texas (in Austin, if memory serves) to the point that no one was willing to work on the project. The list goes on and on.

2. Intimidation of doctors and pharmacists so they can't get abortions and
birth control pills
Cutting back on funding of child care facilities.

Cutting back on any poverty program affect more women than men since most of those in poverty are single Moms.

US govt holding back funding for women's health care organizations in US and around the world that even mention abortion or birth control.

US govt cutting funding for OSHA and OEO and has cut back on complaints on sex discrimination cases.

No followup and in fact, coverups in those Air Force Sex Harassment cases.

Here are some sites with much better info:

3.  first, one has to understand that body means the entire being
and not just the physical self. Also, you have to view it in terms of the attacks on women over many many years.

Right wingers have tried to prevent women from working. They do this by trying to shame women who work. They do this by saying it emasculates men for women to work. If the women have kids, the right wing attempts to heap additional shame on working mothers. They do this by blaming working moms for the ills of society. Course, they also like to blame women , in general, for the ills of society. "Women can't do the work of men" "Women are the weaker sex"...mustn't forget paternalism!

The right wing wants to control birth control. This is just so they can control a woman's sexuality. They've done this by labeling women as "loose", "immoral", "sluts", and other assorted names in attempts to shame women for being sexual. See? It's OK for men but not for women. Do you ever hear anyone say," Well, son, a woman is not going to marry a man who isn't a virgin"? The double-standard is nothing more than an attempt at controlling women.

Abortion is, at it's roots, about controlling women. While I recognize that some people oppose abortion for their own private and non-universal moral reasons, the power base uses the abortion issue for control. Sexuality can be a very powerful thing...and a woman who exerts her sexual being intimidates some people. If they can stop abortions, they figure they can stop women from having sex they don't approve of...think about the term "unwed mother"....it's got some heavy duty negative connotations to it. Why? Because the term was not used as merely descriptive...but descriptive with societal condemnation dripping from it. "Oh, she's pregnant and not married...must be one of those loose women" (Madonna/Whore. Good girls vs. Bad girls)

Now think about how people will say "the stigma of being born out of wedlock" What stigma? The only stigma is the one society places on it...and then you have to ask why a society would label a child and it's mother in such a way...if not trying to shame people. And why are they trying to shame them? To control behavior they have deemed unacceptable.

The list goes on and on...

5. Don't forget W's proposal of giving "medical assistance to a fetus"
Oh, and by the way, if the mother to be requires health care, then she can get it. If you're NOT pregnant and can't afford health care, F*CK YOU!

6. Promoting unscientific purity - aimed sex education that
encourages teen to continue purity pledges into adulthood.
To know who you will be happiest with as a life partner - you need at least a good dozen partners.. Bad marriages are bad for everyone as are people taken advantage of due to needless naivete.

7. pharmacists have the right to deny medicine
if it conflicts with the bible. the FDA doctor put in by bush sole notoriety is that he wrote a book, pms open your bibles.

this suggests to me he believes in original sin of women, which the fundies state we should experience our pains, to know our sin. this is only beginning to feed out. who knows where it will go if nothing is said. am i not going to get my magic pain killing pill cause my old fallopian tubes are diseased and during period i am in excutiating pain

scalia, a pretty important dude that effects all our lives, said in a speech to law students he didnt know was being recorded. women need to remember they stand behind man, and blacks need to remember history too, their place. yada yada yada.,....dont have his exact quote

courts have told preg. women that need medical attention that may harm the fetus, but if they dont have they will die....that they cannot have treatment

one woman was made to have a c section which caused her early death, and the baby died. (she was terminal)

charged mother with murder because she didnt follow doctors advice to have a c section, was allowing for natural birth
