Description: Rececently released in an updated second edition, "Every War Must End" addresses the obstacles that arise when trying to end a war. Written by former Under Secretary for Policy Fred Charles Ikle, it chronicles how past wars have ended and how these processes may or may not change in the future. Mr. Ikle is joined by a panel to discuss his new book and its relevance to the current situation in Iraq. Panelists include Rolf Huppi, International Counselor for the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS); Patrick Cronin, CSIS director of studies; Zbigniew Brzezinski, former National Security Adviser during the Carter administration; Dov Zakheim, former Under Secretary of Defense (Comptroller) and Chief Financial Officer for the Department of Defense; John Lehman, former Secretary of the Navy under President Reagan; Thomas Ricks, Washington Post Staff Writer; and Douglas Feith, the current Under Secretary of Defense for Policy at the Department of Defense.

Author Bio: Fred Charles Ikle served as the Under Secretary of Defense for Policy from 1981 - 1988. He is the author of "How Nations Negotiate" in addition to "Every War Must End." His articles have been published in Foreign Affairs, Fortune, Wall Street Journal, and the Washington Post. He currently serves as a distinguished scholar at the Center for Strategic and International Studies.
