4. And once we've forgotten and the bulk of Syria wiped, then it'll be Iran's
turn?

I don't like second-guessing. Iraq was half-obvious because of a stupid blood-feud that all involved in were too immature to overlook. (that's assuming * loves his father for FWIW I think that particular emotion is genuine between daddy and son. Of course, as Steve Rhoades said of the Bundys, even squid love their young. It depends on your point of view. And seeing too many is crazy.)

5. What would be the motive?
I mean, the published motive. Nobody claims that they have WMD, and something tells me that they wouldn't play that card again.

9. Their excuse seems to be "oh they harbor terrorists blah blah"
Edited on Sun Mar-06-05 02:36 PM by Stop_the_War

11. Motive?
That does not seem to matter with * and crew.

However, if you need a list here ya go:

1. They are "Baathist" (kinda like Saddam)
2. They have military hardware. (A threat to Israel)
3. Al Qaida "hangs out" there.
4. They have SADDAM'S WMD. (Hidden of course in the Baqaa Valley.)
5. They are like that Axis of Evil(TM) country, IRAN.

Need any more talking points??

10. This Regime Is Reacting...Not ProActive
Not that it matters to the corporate media or this regime, but the events in Lebanon weren't created by Commander Bunnypants...I'd suggest Yasir Arrafat's death had more to do with it...but this regime's taking credit nonetheless for a political situation they don't understand and where virtually all parties involve have no love for this country. But why let reality get in the way of playing Risk with real people's lives...and make a profit while you're at it.

There's a concept of "democracy" the Repgunicans, chickenhawks and neo-cons have forgotten about...despite it's in their own blood...it's Nationalism. The Iraqis don't care if their future rulers are Democrats, Repugnicans, Baathist or Vegetable...as long as they're Iraqi or one of their own...be it Kurd, Shiite or Sunni.

This doesn't conform to the artificial British-French maps sitting in the situation room, but has set motion a "balkanization" of the region which will be harder for this regime to control or manipulate and have decades of pent-up distrust and resentment of this country that precludes will preclude the U.S. to an eventual role of bystander rather than a leader.

A couple week's ago, I didn't think this regime had the real stones to go into Syria, but now with the destabilization in the area and apparent disarray happening in Damascus, all bets are off. No one thought Nixon would be crazy enough to get involved in Cambodia and Laos in 1970, but he sure did.

12. I still think the stage is being set for Israel to do it while BushCo
holds their coat. It would eliminate a threat to Israel and help the U.S. to the extent that Syria may be allowing jihadists to pass through to Iraq.
