U.S. Colonel was waiting for Sgrena car at Baghdad airport??
"The Italian government said it had informed the United States about the very delicate operation which was about to begin.

"And the presence of an American colonel at Baghdad airport along with the Italian officers who were waiting for Sgrena and her liberators, demonstrates that the operation was being conducted in harmony," the newspaper said.

And the reporter was a COMMUNIST, and they 'drove through a checkpoint at 50 mph trying to dodge the checkpoint instead of stopping and she was a COMMUNIST and and and Iraq is a warzone and a dangerous place and did I mention that she was a COMMUNIST?

3. Aarrrgghh!
and, as a side note, I do not know Ms. Sgrena's personal politics.

However, just because she writes for Il Manifesto, which is the official newspaper of the Italian Communist Party, it does not make her a communist.

And even if she were a communist, so what? You're allowed to be a communist in Italy... it's not a big deal.

Heck, my parish priest who was often a guest in our house even though we are not Catholic was communist. He believed that Jesus Christ was the biggest communist out there....
