I don't want to believe you've abandoned the Republican Party...
I received a letter today from the Republican National Committee today. The contents are as follows:

----------
Dear Friend:

I don't want to believe you've abandoned the Republican Party, but I have to ask... Have you given up?

Our records show we have not yet received your 2005 Republican National Committee membership contribution.

As the Treasurer of the RNC, I know our Party's success depends directly on grassroots leaders like you.

So I am surprised and concerned because I know how generously you have helped in the past and how instrumental your support was to our Party's historic victories in 2004.

I know other things come up, and perhaps you've just been delayed in renewing your membership. If that's the case, I understand.

But we've not heard from your this year -- and I hope you haven't abandoned the Party.

President Bush is counting on Republican leaders like you to help him with the tough challenges that lie ahead in his second term.

While we strengthened our majorities in Congress, the margin is still narrow -- and that means liberal Democrats will continue their delay and filibuster tactics.

And that's why your 2005 RNC membership renewal contribution of $25, $38, or even $50 is urgently needed to give President Bush and the GOP Congress the resources they need to move our country forward.

Your support is important. The future of our compassionate conservative agenda is at stake.

President Bush has put forward a comprehensive plan of keeping taxes low and reforming the outdated tax code, continuing to provide for a strong homeland and national defense and saving and protecting Social Security.

But as we learned during the President's first term, the Clinton/Kennedy/Kerry Democrats will obstruct and delay our agenda at every turn.

We cannot allow them to succeed!

We need your help to get our message out so we can bypass the liberal media filter with our public outreach and communications.

It is also crucial we continue our efforts to build our Party from the grassroots up for the vital 2005-2006 elections.

So if you have delayed in renewing your membership because you feel the RNC has let you down or no longer needs you, please let me know. I need to hear from you.

But please don't turn your back on President Bush and our Congressional leaders who are counting on your help.

Just include your comments and suggestions with the enclosed Membership Confirmation and return them with your 2005 membership renewal check.

Please don't quit now! Renew your RNC membership today. Thank you.

Sincerely,
Mike Retzer
Treasurer

P.S. Our nation is closely divided politically. We need the support of every Republican to provide the resources President Bush and the GOP Congress needs to defeat the liberal Democrats and fully enact our agenda. Please don't give up now. Please renew your RNC membership today. Thank you.
----------

For the record, I have never been a member of the Republican Party, nor have I ever donated one cent to them. I am a member of the Democratic Party. I have no idea why I received this letter.

I think I'll put some washers in the postage-paid envelope and send it back to them.

2. Perhaps you should play along.
A heartfelt, cleverly written letter about just how the Republican Party has let you down might give them pause.

But don't forget the washers.

14. LOL
Let them know how disappointed you are that Christians would spread hate of liberals, gays, educated folks, and non-Christians when Jesus taught to love all and accept everyone.

Also, how Bush lied to go to War. How angry you are that Bush doesn't truely follow Jesus since he doesn't care about strengthening our economy while giving communist donations to corporations.

And add some Jim Wallis stuff to boot.

3. It's bait. They know you're a Democrat
I got a Republican survey this summer. It asked the most ridiculous questions, and was addressed to my name, as a "registered Republican." I have NEVER in my life been a Republican, registered or otherwise. I realized later that what I had received was one of those letters the GOP sent out to see if registered Democratic voters lived at the addresses they claimed. Remember that their claims for excluding voters had to do with returned mail?

They are fucking with you. Find a way to use that letter to fuck with them. Think of something better than washers. Some clever DU member will come up with something.

8. On a recent thread regarding credit card offers,
someone said you could tape it to a brick & they would have to pay the cost of mailing the brick, but I'm not sure that would really fly with the post office. Has anyone tried this trick?

Otherwise, this is a really good article to send back in those pre-paid envelopes:

"When Did Liberal Become a Dirty Word?"

http://www.democraticunderground.com/articles/02/11/23_liberal.html

I sent three out this week to cc companies with their pre-paid envelopes.

23. To really be legal

Stuff it with coupon flyers from the same batch of mail. That way it is actually a business reply. You are sending them valuable business information that can save the republican party money. Such as all the 2 for 1 specials at the local Kroger, and money saving coupons for subs and chicken.

I'm actually a registered Republican and have never received such a letter.

I have received such letters from local Republicans, but not from Mike Retzer.

And the repugs are supposed to be so organized...

Good insight.

I would hope the Democrats could get their stuff together too.

What I see is promising though... I am a moderate who believes in balance.

mailings. I get them all the time. I used to try to send them back but the post office refuses to pick them up and return them anymore. Line your bird cage or cat box with them. It makes you feel better.

If they can't tell if you are a repuke or a Democrat, it's up to them to figure it out. Try and see if you can get them to send you more and more stuff, just to fuck with them.

or you can just do the obvious

If there is a postage paid return envelope, just stuff it with anything and send it back.

Although its message ranks as having all the use and appeal of stained toilet tissue, I'm making serious observations about how the Kool-Aid makers scoop it out to the Kool-Aid drinkers.

Off the cuff observations:

Guilt + Fear = send money

Never refer to the Democratic party as "Democrats." They must be "liberal Democrats" -- further demonize us by fictional personalization -- just who in the world are the "the Clinton/Kennedy/Kerry Democrats?"

Of course, never, ever send out a Republican communication unless it is FILLED to the overflowing brim with BOLDFACED LIES -- we all know them, but what the heck:

"....that's why your 2005 RNC membership renewal contribution of $25, $38, or even $50 is urgently needed to give President Bush and the GOP Congress the resources they need to move our country forward."

Of course their coffers are fat with dough right now and Bush is deliberately taking this country nowhere but BACKWARDS.

"The future of our compassionate conservative agenda is at stake."
:eyes: :puke: :wtf:

Since there's no elaboration on exactly what that agenda is, I can only guess even the writer of this drivel knew that was a doozy.

And my favorite: "the liberal media filter."

So, one of the lessons here for me is that it is never enough to have one word as a descriptive -- three is best.

As in, these anti-democracy, corporate welfare extremists have no shame.

drew a mustache on Laura and a tail and horns on * , put the money amount slip in the cat box till it got good and smelly and sent it back. I haven't received anything else....

But your solicitation does give us an insight of their plans and that they have targeted Clinton/Kennedy/Kerry Democrats, they'll repeat these names to instill hate in their followers....

22. How long now till the base realizes they're being insulted.
Will they ever realize it??

It's so condescending it's kind of amusing.

"We need your help (your money) to get our message out (lies and wedge issues to divert americans attention while we create laws that solely benefit our own corporate interests) so we can bypass the liberal media filter (pay no attention to the fact that we've been caught on several occasions paying off the media to promote OUR neo-con talking points with taxpayer money)."

It's like watching the sixth graders on the playground manipulating the second graders out of their lunch money.

25. Great analogy.
That's why I feel so awful that my own mother has fallen for it. I thought she had more smarts than that. O'Reilly is her master & she believes every word he says. Limbaugh is a close second. She has become a racist, hate-filled, bitter person over the last 15 years.

27. It's interesting how commonplace those traits are
among Republicans - racist, hate-filled, bitter. And most of them don't even seem to realize it. I've called a couple people on it before. My grandma talks about how nasty the democrats are to the president and I've stopped her and reminded her about some of the NASTY things the repubs (including her) have said. At first it seems to sink in for a minute but then she just shrugs and justifies herself and the repubs. I've learned it doesn't do any good to argue with her about it anymore. She is what she is. Unfortunately, people with attitudes like her are the last people I feel like being around so it causes a lot of cognitive dissonance for me.

RNC, but I believe you should think twice about following people's advice about sending nude pictures of Gannon, smearing stuff with poop, etc. Most of the time political agencies, charities, etc., outsource donation collection jobs to agencies geared to this type of work. These agencies are typically nonpartisan (one I know of collects for the ACLU, the Heritage Foundation, the NRA, the Nature Conservancy, etc.). These agencies hire minimum wage workers who have no political agendas to open the letters and sort the donations. They are the ones who have to deal with used condoms, letters smeared with feces, pornography, etc. Officials of organizations like the RNC never actually see these letters.

Screw with them in other ways. Believe me, they will never see what you send with or scribble on a donation card. Just some old lady working for minimum wage will.
