Using last nights Bill Maher as a guide, will you support DEMS who
start shifting closer to the right?

A story the other day on the AP stated that Dems are currently "shopping" for conservative candidates.

2. Better question: Should DUers look to comedians for their political views?

24. Well, that seems to be what we are getting from AirAmerica Radio
Edited on Sat Mar-12-05 11:50 AM by itzamirakul
Nearly every host on every program is a supposed comedian, although, for my money...Mike Moran and Al Franken both suck.

And at the risk of being called anit-semetic...what is the deal with every single one of the shows being hosted by a Jewish person?

A newspaper article in the NY Daily news last week said that Liz Winstead (non-Jewish, I think) had been kicked off of Unfiltered by the new "Jewish" Program Director. I think it is because she made some really strong anti-Israel remarks about a week or so ago. But hell, the truth is the light. Someone HAS to say it once in awhile.

Mike Moran, Rachel, Al Franken, Randi, Sam Seder. Each of them has a co-host but for the most part, the shows are headed up by the Jewish comedians. What's the deal? Is it to keep the shows free of any talk about Israel? If you listen daily as I have done until about a week ago when I just couldn't take it any more, you will see that Israel is hardly EVER mentioned AND AL FRANKEN'S "oY, yOY, yOY" segment stinks to the high heavens.

IMO, just as I suspected over a year ago that the top positions in the Democratic Party had been taken over by "spoilers" from the Republican Party to prevent us from winning, I now suspect the same think about Air America Radio.

Al Franken is such good friends with so many Republicans and to hear him bring them on his show and allow them to make a total fool out of him on most subjects just sickens me.

I used to love AAR...I can hardly stand to listen any more.

Edit: spelling

25. There are a lot of Jews in comedy. It's a fact. Not a conspiracy.
In fact, Jews are overrepresented in much of show business. (Full disclosure: I'm a former actor, and a Jew.)

But AAR is presented as a political venue, which makes it different from HBO. Still, I'd think twice before I let what a comedian/entertainer said affect my political views.

10. Peaceful, Yes; Accepting, No.
There IS way too much idle ranting around here, but it's possible to oppose things we don't like without being hotheads.

For instance, I oppose much of what Joe Lieberman works for. But I hesitate to bitch and moan about the guy, since so many others are doing it, and it's having just about no effect.

It's time to replace at least some of the anger with some real work. For one thing, we'll need to find a candidate to oppose Joe in the Democratic primary the next time he's up for re-election.

4. NO
Are they INSANE???

The farther to the right they go, the more races they lose.

Maybe we tinfoil beanie folks have always been right, that the DLC were GOP moles sent in to destroy the party from within.

They've certainly done a good job of it, and the current crop of antiabortion freaks running for key offices will finish it off if we let them run unopposed.

6. What does "conservative" mean, by the way?
Are we talking economic rightwingers or economic leftists who are conservative on social issues?

If we're going to aim for a socially moderate or even conservative who is solidly leftist in economic ideology, what is there to do if the election is lost again?

didnt win because Bush has unfinished business & the election in Iraq would not have been a success

Also, just for shits and giggles, why do you think the "election" has any legs?

22. I don't think Maher said anything close to that
All Maher has done is concede that through all the bullshit and mistakes Bush has made, the Iraqi people voted, and he considers that a success. We can argue over whether the election is the result of Iraqi will power or whather it was entirely Bush's credit given that he removed the previous government that had elections where Saddam was getting 99% of the vote.

8. To hear the pundits talk about this trend
you would think that the rest of us can do nothing but simply "go along" with the DINOS (cause if they are right-leaning, they are DINOS).
I have heard several newscasters say that it is good for Hillary to move to the center because "her base will HAVE to come along."

I think we are hearing a lot of talk from pundits who help make up this kind of info with the help of such DINOs as Al From, Lieberman, etc. These guys have been PLANTED in the Democratic Party to do exactly what they are doing...keep the party from being unified.

15. Bill Maher is a whore and a very insecure little man.
He really gets off on being a jerk, too. He is out for himself only, and is not a champion of anyone's rights, including the right wing as well as the left wing.
I enjoy watching him, sometimes, but last night he was really disgusting. And I thought the people he had on there were poor choices, except for Barney Frank.
The woman - the Muslim lesbian - where did she come from and how can we send her back????

20. It depends on the issues that they are shifting to the right on.
Right or left in general means little to me - I want to know what the issues are and why they believe what they do.
