Only an educated population can support of true democracy!
Just heard this at a school board meeting thought it was so true...thought of shrub and all his supporters. Thought of Kerry and all his supporters which group do you think is the educated one.

2. That is a very true statement...
An educated populace has the ability to see thru the lies and the bull shit of the government. Conversely, a government is less likely to 'pull a fast one' on and educated citizenship.

This is one reason why the idiot we call * gives a glorious name of 'No Child Left Behind" and then not fund the program. This government does not want our children to be educated and actually wants to 'dumb' them down so that they can be more easily led.

Amongst all of other other battles we have, we have to fight for better education.

4. so if the plan is;
to destroy public education and turn it over to faith based organizations and back them with money so that they keep you in office and you have a cheap labor market of under educated people( who will be able to quote their Bible at any given time)...I GUESS YOU MUST BE A
REPUBLICAN!!!!!

6. There is a very strong cultural hatred of intellectuals
American culture has bred a society where being intelligent and wanting others to be educated is looked down upon- I tend to think this is because thinking and being aware of the world and all the evils is itself painful and we have a deep aversion to pain. We'd rather be ignorant but free of pain.
After all, didn't most Americans like Bush because he was the guy they could sit down and have a brew with, where Gore was the cold egghead?

8. It's more true than you think. There's a direct correlation between...
...functional illiteracy and voter participation.

Needless to say we don't fare well in comparison to other mature democracies...
