Funny there are no photos of Terry Ratzmann in any of the news stories
about the shooting incident in WI but the photos and videos of the Atlanta murderer are all over the networks and cable news shows 24-7.
Makes you go hmmmmmm. I guess we are juts not supposed to SEE what a born-again evangelical murder looks like.

2. I wouldn't mind either
I live 2 miles from both where it happened and where he lived. I'd like to see if I recognize the dude.

Born-again evangelical murderer from a small fringe group. I'd never even heard of that church until yesterday. I didn't read the article about the church yet. Should be interesting. Apparently they were of the opinion that the rapture was quite close. That might have separated them from other born agains who aren't feeling quite the same urgency.

6. There are a LOT of churches like this....................
that nobody know about. Ticking time bombs, waiting for something to happen. When it doesn't happen, at least on their time table, they MAKE something happen, usually with terrible consequences, like Jones-town, Waco and this.
What drives people into wacko sects like this, or religion altogether for that matter, is beyond me.

8. Hey, we ain't all like that
I know my church isn't. I was quite proud of them this election cycle. I didn't realize how surrounded by Democrats I was until I boldly wore my Kerry/Edwards button to church one morning. I expected flak, not "Hey, good man!" but 9 times out of ten I got a good response. So pleased to know I worship with a bunch of the "good guys."

4. He had a website
which is probably gone by now. He raised carnivorous plants, traveled, and took some very nice photographs along the way.

It's sad. He'd likely have stayed completely obscure, growing his plants and taking his photos, had some charismatic psychopathic yahoo not sucked him into yet another Apocalyptic fundy cult.

are BASED on apocalyptic, end of the world scenarios. That tells me all I need to know about them.

5. Did they rise up to heaven...............
when they were murdered? I guess the rapture came a little early for some of these folks.
It's a sad, sad thing. Nobody should have to die in such a fashion. But these whackos just reaped a little of what they've been sowing. If you plant hatred and intolerance, sooner or later you've got to expect a little hatred and intolerance to grow wild, on it's own.

10. Your bias is showing
We know precious little about what happened. You might wanna wait for a few more facts before you finish railing against the fundies.

The fact that he was living at home still either meant that he was like alot of us and couldn't afford to live alone. Or it could mean that he already had some emotional problems.

I play Dungeons and Dragons. I also go to church on a regular basis. I'm used to people jumping to conclusions about one or the other, therefore. It's quite amusing when some D&D players use the same biased language and jump to stereotypical conclusions in the same manner that some church folks use on them. They don't see the mirror. But being in both camps, I do.

A broad brush is unfair, no matter who you're painting.

15. Methinks green beans
Also, that photo does not look like the man from the website.

As to whether his religious beliefs drove him to this act, I do not think we have enough facts to make that conclusion. Though he erupted at a church meeting it remains to be seen whether this church's teachings were the origin of his breakdown.

12. Is he eating lizards?
Weird.

Doesn't look much like the other picture I saw, but he does bear an eerie resemblence to a nice quiet pedophile I once knew.

People! Always surprising ya!
