Which republicans are currently saying "there is no lockbox"
ergo - threatening that the govt will not payback the money borrowed/"invested" in social security?

Aren't these "notes" in treasuries? And isn't running around stating that the US Govt will default on these treasuries a little dangerous, given how much we need foreign investors in treasuries to fund bushco's massive deficits?

1. * has not intention of paying back those treasury bonds, steal from SS
so that they do not have to do it, because they, repubs, will use these funds to pay their tax breaks to the rich and to keep their faith based programs running while screwing over the working and lower classes on their programs.

2. But they are saying this PUBLICALLY to sell their SS agenda
domestically... but international investors hear this as well... seems like a potentially dangerous (economically speaking) situation being created by these vocal rightwingideologues.

3. I understand one of them is the same one who first used the term.
Shrub himself, in January of 2000 beat Al Gore to the lockbox term (the same term, I don't need to note, that they later ridiculed Gore for.)

"We're in a tax debate here in this state and around the country. And let me explain my position as clearly as I can. First, unspent surpluses in Washington, D.C. will be spent, you mark my words, you leave money sitting around the table in Washington, Washington politicians will spend it. Now, I believe there's enough money. If you lockbox the payroll taxes, there is $2 trillion to make sure the Social Security system is safe and secure-- $2 trillion.

I intend to lockbox the payroll taxes and spend them only on what they're supposed to be spent on, and that's Social Security. And by the way... (Applause)"
