Citizens to challenge law against supporting a soldier’s right to resist
I didn't know there was such a law. You can't support soldiers who want to resist what they feel is an immoral war?

On 2nd Anniversary of Iraq War, U.S. Citizens to Challenge Federal Law that Prohibits Support of Soldier’s Right to Resist

Veterans, Military Family Members and Nonviolent Activists to Deliver to the White House a Declaration of Support of Soldiers Resisting the Iraq War

WHAT: As part of the new National Call of Nonviolent Resistance Against the Iraq War, a group including veterans, military family members, clergy and nonviolent activists will be publicly reading and signing a statement which will encourage and support soldiers who, of their own conscience, refuse orders to fight in the Iraq War. Our declaration will be in violation of United States Code 18, Section 2387, which says that such support and encouragement of soldiers is illegal. After delivering this statement to the White House, we plan to distribute informational materials regarding the military's false promises - as well as alternatives to military service - at a nearby military recruiting station. Those so moved will engage in an act of nonviolent civil disobedience to temporarily close the recruiting station.

WHERE: Lafayette Park, across from the White House, and U.S. Armed Services recruiting center, 14 th and L Sts. NW, Washington DC

WHEN: All events on Thursday, March 17, 2005

12:00 Noon - Press conference in Lafayette Park, with Signing of Statement in Support of a Soldier’s Right of Conscience, and delivery of this statement to the White House
12:45PM - Proceed to U.S. Armed Services Recruiting Station at corner of 14 th and L Sts. NW.
1:00PM - Statements followed by nonviolent civil disobedience at Armed Forces recruiting center.
