GOP win on ANWR highlights the real reason....
Edited on Wed Mar-16-05 03:40 PM by LeftHander
They want to push these items. it is because they have lost, lost, lost and lost. Being people who NEVER accept defeat or admit they are wrong they push on. Find a way to win, even if it means killing, lying, or cheating. Winning is everything in this society it doesn't matter if you win a shit eating contest. YOU WON!

Americans love a winner. They love shit eating winners.

I am so sad today. I know I am going to cry on the drive today. Thinking about the last wild places left, melting away from global warming and being covered in the filth and stench of oil.

Oil that we shove in our fucking cars. Oil that we smash our food into so we can can gain just a bit more profit. Oil that we coat our houses, roofs and bodies with....

my god it makes me sick.

2. what disgusted me most
was watching Republican Senators come up to Sen. Lisa Michalkski and CONGRATULATE her on her victory!!

Her victory?

She just allowed the environmental legacy of her constituency to be plundered for private profit.....and that's a victory?

She just squandered her stewardship of the land.....and that's a victory?

She just traded the environment for 30 pieces of (Oil Company ) Silver.....and that's a victory?

She should be hanging her head in shame......

5. I've been reading from Marcus Aurelius's Meditations today
It helps me realize how small this moment actually is in the vastness of history.

Stoicism comes in handy on days like today.

7. give us a few good ones, we need them
It is really good to go back and read / reflect on ancient history at times like this. It reinforces the idea "this too shall pass".

Right now, it just sucks.

12. Here are a couple, translations of course.
When you're feeling overwhelmed and confused by the evil in your circumstances or the attacks of your enemies, fall back at once into yourself, while not losing contact with the forces pressing down on you. By thus keeping yourself in harmony with your own nature, you will not only find refreshment but be prepared to win the field.

and

Worldly circumstances and affairs cannot touch the mind, cannot penetrate it, cannot alter or move it, for the mind alters and moves itself, molding the world in the shape of whatever judgments it pleases the mind to make.

8. A-fucking-men.
This is one of the darkest days I've felt during the entire maddening run of the last four years. It's right up there with Gore's concession, the start of the Iraqi war, and Kerry's concession.

9. Lyrics I wrote for a new song...
Melting Away

See the red glow
of the sun on the edge over looking the snow
silent clouds of fumes roll across the sky
birds fall from the sky and die

bags of bones walk among ruins
of trucks, rusted pipes and drums
it's midday and the sun is low
a cold summer glow
and the gas fires blow

The earth is melting away
in heat of our climate control
protected by filters and bags
we make the choice to slowly kill
all that was given we greedily sell

the night is falling one last time
on this once great earth
lost in the clouds of smoke and filth
the smallest of lungs choke and stop short

silence falls only the hot wind speaks
like the howl of a dog under a car
screaming for life
melting away on a burning tailpipe

15. I bet the REAL reason is to, divide, put up McDonalds & sell it off+HAARP
The Inuit tribes must be furious. Disgusting, this world has so much intelligence and beauty and a small group of IDIOTS with Billions are hell bent on destroying every precious living thing.

Can we please evolve already, this is horrible. The poor penguins, seals, dolphins, whales, polar bears...the people....another sad day for humanity and Nature. Very gross indeed.
