Should the Democrats "Pull a Texas Legislator" and Vamoose?
At this point the Democrats just seem to be in Congress for comic relief. There's not much they can to to stop the Bush/GOP Freight Train to Hell, and they seem to have a decreasing ability to even put up token fights. Or to get attention for it.

I'm wondering if they mioght not do more good by taking a page from those Texas legislators. Have a mass press conference, make strong speeches about how the republicans are screwing the American people. Then say something like "You Goddamn Republicans want the whole thing and refuse to compromise? Well then, take the whole thing and to hell with it."

And then leave town en masse.

It's sure get the attention they're not getting now. And maybe it'd be a wake up call to the Americans who have been numbed.

Maybe not. Dunno. But it seems like they have to do something dramatic and start making some points about what the Republicabns are doing.

2. Yes
While they do have an obligation to work for the good of their citizens, cooperation is a two way street. Since W won't do that, make the rubber stamping blatant.

3. Bam! There's a national security crisis and the Dems
get locked out forever because the emergency government thingie
would kick in(the one that says if you don't make it into the chambers you
aren't part of the government anymore.).
Other than that it's a good idea. :)

8. For all the good they are doing yes. I have suggested that after
the 2000 theft that they should set up a government in exile at another location and pass bills release them to the public and let them decide. It makes more since than pretending we still have a democracy.

9. It wouldn't accomplish much
A quorum in the Senate is 51; in the House it is 218. Even if all the Democrats left (rather unlikely) it would not break the quorum and keep either house from doing business.

When the Killer D's went to Oklahoma they did prevent the Texas House from being able to conduct business. One thing they had working in their favor is that the regular session is set by law at 140 days. After making the Democrats made their point the Rethugs eventually dropped their redistricting plan for that session and the Killer D's came back so the Legislature could conduct other business.

Likewise the Democrats in the State Senate were able to wreck several special sessions (limited to 30 days) by decamping to New Mexico.

Our US Senators and Congressmen would not be able to have the same effect in Washington.
