"it's gods will . . ." blah, blah, blah
Edited on Thu Mar-17-05 01:24 AM by AVID
Why would god give one fuck about celebrities, singers, or whether or not someone wins some Hollywood or billboard award? Everything is up to jesus?

The Atlanta gal who helped the guy that killed the judge and court reporter told him it was god's miracle that he was alive, that he made it out of the courthouse, and found her apartment. NO - he fuckin shot four people with a gun and killed them - where was their miracle?

I'm just sick of people dreaming up this fantasy bullshit as excuses, reasoning, and judgments.

I ruined my favorite shirt today with too much bleach. . . stupidity, ignorance, haste?
No . . . it was gods will . . .blah blah blah

1. It seems to be their universal response to everything.
I get really tired of it. I ranted about that.

9. Yep
Not everything is God's will. There is a little thing called freewill and consequences. Karma etc.

Edited on Thu Mar-17-05 01:26 AM by jdj
in his image, then I bet he is piled up with about 5 new college girls every other day playing naked twister and doesn't know these people from Adam. (sorry).

thank's for that about that dipwad lady that risked leaving her child motherless to flirt with a pyscho for 7 hours. She ought to lose custody for that crap.

3. I think she showed an amazing amount of courage. Perhaps she
knew about the money (I hear people wondering how innocent she could be.. but I was just like her at her age). Perhaps she was just being very, very empathetic. I do think she could teach a thing or to to Bush.. about how she used what had happened in her own life to make the guy understand what he had done and not to do it again.

Personally, if people learn empathy from this woman.. it is not a bad thing. At least they are not learning hate from the Bush WH which is what they learn every other day of the week.

4. I heard it today......about oil..
If God didn't want us to use it, he wouldn't have put it here for us.
:puke:

The guy next to said "He didn't put it here for us to abuse it like this!" lol
:-)

Why did God put all the oil in the middle east? Eh. Maybe God made a boo-boo.

15. Maybe the Devil put it there to tempt mankind???
Afterall he did try to tempt Jesus why would he not try to tempt lessor beings? Oil has/will cause much bloodshed and pollution and probably even global warming. do they think god would put something there for us to destroy his creation with? Now the devil that is a different story entirely. The devil tempts mankind with riches and other evils all the time..
Common sense should dictate that oil is a great temptation put there as a temptation. Does God ever do that, tempt mankind with such?

7. Hallalujah brother!
And the lord gave his only begotten son (I'm STILL trying to figure out how THAT happened!) so that we could screw up as many times as we like and he'll always forgive us for it. It's o.k. that we murder for mind altering drugs: let thousands of children die from starvation or be coerced into child prostitution; hold people hostage for the basic essentials of life; or vote in for a second term, an inept, greedy ape. The lord jesus will show us the path to righteousness, but in the meantime, go fuck yourselves. That's the ticket!

8. Well, lookee here!
A perfect example what you're talking about, I think...

http://www.forgivenforlife.com/

(Thanks to the alert DU'er who posted this in the True Crime group, which let me steal it.)

I grew up in the Buckle On The Bible Belt, having Fundie nonsense crammed down my throat till it came out my ears. I knew drunks, drug addicts, wife-and-child abusers, Baptist deacons who were screwing anything in a skirt...and some of these folks were in my own family. And every so often, sure enough, most of them would end up at Altar Call on Sunday blubbering to Jesus, or writhing on the floor during a tent revival.

Jesus usually "took" for a week or so, then they went back to their old ways.

One of my aunts booted her drunken, drug-abusing husband out of the house and raised her 2 kids by herself. This was in the Fifties and Sixties, when that was just not done.

About half the damn family considered HER the "sinner" because she divorced him.

I've been an atheist for years, and also lived among the Unsalvagable Sinners in Los Angeles for years. I'm a lot better off.

Edited on Thu Mar-17-05 10:40 AM by seabeyond
you put too much of your self worth in material things, ergo that shirt. having it taken away from you gave you the opportunity of letting go of something material of value, yada yada yada .

god works in mysterious ways, wink

on edit: i see it more, shit happens. it is what you do with the shit once it happens

16. I was only going to take three Tylenol this morning
but 15 of them fell out of the bottle into my hand. It's a sign from God. It's HIS will that I take all 15 of them, and to hell with what the label on the bottle says!
