Just heard that the Repukes are cancelling the 60 city SS tour because
the reaction has been so bad. It seems it has been doing more harm than good. Rachel Madow on UNFILTERED, AAR just mentioned it.

15. The thing is
I think that people are very shady with this because Bush can't tell people about it clearly and he isn't giving all of his plans. And c'mon he has to get a nine year old kid to sell his plan! The kid doesn't even know about Nixon and Watergate like he thinks so how in the world does he know anything about Social Security and FDR? :eyes: I saw some program talking about the kid and an adult guy was arguing with him about Watergate. The little kid was standing infront of the hotel with the guy and said: "This is where 'Watergate' supposivley happened" (and he did put quotes around Watergate). So this whole tour is ridiculous and a freak sideshow.

8. It was all a misdirection, THIS WAS NOT A WIN, WE LOSE!
Edited on Thu Mar-17-05 10:35 AM by Walt Starr
You can tell Rove is a student of Sun Tzu:

All warfare is based on deception.

Hence, when able to attack, we must seem unable; when using our forces, we must seem inactive; when we are near, we must make the enemy believe we are far away; when far away, we must make him believe we are near.

Hold out baits to entice the enemy. Feign disorder, and crush him.

If he is secure at all points, be prepared for him. If he is in superior strength, evade him.

If your opponent is of choleric temper, seek to irritate him. Pretend to be weak, that he may grow arrogant.

If he is taking his ease, give him no rest. If his forces are united, separate them.

Attack him where he is unprepared, appear where you are not expected.

These military devices, leading to victory, must not be divulged beforehand.

Now the general who wins a battle makes many calculations in his temple ere the battle is fought. The general who loses a battle makes but few calculations beforehand. Thus do many calculations lead to victory, and few calculations to defeat: how much more no calculation at all! It is by attention to this point that I can foresee who is likely to win or lose.

Sun Tzu - Thae Art of War, Chapter 1, Verses 16-24.

All of this has played out over the past two weeks. SS was the bait, they attacked in all other areas and won on the field of battle. They won on bankruptcy. They won on ANWR, and they're going to win on judicial nominations.

Democrats had to take the bait, and they appear to have won, but winning on SS was never the objective. The Evil Regressive Neocons will get back to this issue and will do so on their terms wnad in their time. Expect it in 2007, and they'll win then.

The NCAA Tournament bracket is a sucker bet next to any "long term" announcement by the corrupt Bush administration. I knew at the beginning of the month when Stupidhead talked about a 60-day campaign that he was going to cut it short. My outside prognostication was April 15, and my short term prediction was the vernal equinox.

Should have been thinking Irish, not seasonal, I guess.

I remember the failure....but I can't pinpoint the time frame. Google hasn't helped me either. I remember that he promised something like eight weekly televised addresses but they were quietly canceled after the first one went over like a lead balloon.

Was it during the election? I seem to remember that there was a big brouhaha over the idea because it was viewed as free TV commercial for Bush*.

24. I tell you this my mom is 65 going on 66 and she is mad as hell. She and
husband spent 15,000 dollars last year on insurance, prescriptions and "uncovered" expenses like hearing aid batteries, glasses, a colonscopy, which you have to pay for because preventative care isn't covered but if you get cancer and didn't have one then medicare won't pay for the cancer treatment.

They already screw our seniors so badly it isn't funny. More of them need to write letters like my mom is doing. She told me today she is done being nice and thinking about nice ways to phrase things. She said this morning she wrote to a Republican and said something to the effect of "what the hell do you think your doing?"

Seniors are a powerful, powerful segment of our society I hope more seniors write to their Senators and other in Congress also.

41. This may be the one issue that will enlighten Bush
that his pig headedness as a spoiled brat in which he obviously believes he is entitled to all and everything he, in his idiocy pushes, no matter how insane. He decided he could pull the wool over the people's eyes by marketing it, and himself, like a teevee commercial as if it were the newest detergent, but it did not work.

His answer will probably be to change the marketing and he will hire a new PR agent and try again to pull the wool over his own people's eyes.

I think it was during the debates that Kerry said something to the effect that one can be resolute and determined, and still be wrong.

Further,I think it has brought more people to recognize his pig headed response to not getting his way is to market a product, this time using a nine year old boy as his "social security advisor" as Sam Seder called him, while not even laying out a plan for the people to analyse and to make it worse, squandered the tax payer money to chase this scheme around the country using the expensive AF1 as his private jet to foster his SS privatization scam.

In view of all his budget cuts, I do not think that those costs went over too well with the people either.

It's hard work trying to sell a box of cereal that is tasteless. I think he has gone off to Crawford again so he can recover from this devastating blow to his perceived "resoluteness" and hug his bottle of Scotch every night Well knowing him, he is blaming it on someone else , I suspect.

Bullshitpalooza was great because it allowed protesters to speak their mind! It also spotlighted Bush's smoke-and-mirror tactics, as he filled these auditoriums with hand-selected party lemmings.

DAMMMMMM!!!!

This sucks.

Those protesters demonstrated that there is a large, organized contingent that is against Bush. More people need to see that.

If they had done this in 2004 during the Traveling Campaign Lies Tour, Bush would be digging up armadillos for Barney to chase around the yard, and Kerry would be making headway on cleaning up the mess * had left in his wake.

This is the power of the press in action.. Too bad they are so lax in the USE of their power:(

I would think most people in the know about Social Security got it from the foreign press and the "internets," and they spread it by word of mouth. The rest didn't want to go along because they simply were happy with Social Security's dependability thus far.
