Could States Sue Auto Makers For Damage Emissions Cause To Health?

specifically asthma, which is an increasing problem.

Can't we hold them accountable for not producing clean cars after 110 years or so of research and development has failed to provide better technology?

I am thinking this would be along the lines of sueing Tobacco.

1. Especially when they are vindictive

and stupid enough to do things like sue the State of Calif. for upping it's emissions requirements on new cars. Or scrapping electric cars.
