Schilling...what a smug bastard
It's bad enough that Kurt Schilling spent his opening statement praising Bush & Cheney (not once but twice), but did you hear him make a crack about the congressional Democrats? I didn't catch exactly what he said, but Palmeiro turned and yucked it up with him, while McGwire looked stone-faced (but then, he did throughout).

Why in the hell would the Democrats on the committee let him get away with that? Isn't there one Democrat to remind him that he's testifying before a congressional committee, and to conduct himself accordingly? But no, they sat there and just took it. No wonder they don't get any respect.

3. I only heard part of it...
It was something sarcastic about Democrats in congress...you can tell that he'd practiced the line, since he looked really pleased with himself - smirkin' and grinnin'. When the transcripts are out I'll look it up, unless someone here caught the full quote. I just know it was said in a really smart-ass way.

8. good question
He brought up the big ol' thrill of meeting with Bush & Cheney with his teammates last week, and then going to Walter Reed...he said something like, "and no disrespect to our President or Vice President, but for many of us, going there was the highlight of our trip..." blah blah blah flag-waving war-whoopin' etc.

He just had to get that in. He's very proud of being a repig.

9. Bush
was one of the owners that concluded to ignore the problem. If Bush and Cheney ran baseball Schilling could still be using his steroids. OhI mean he's clean. Wink wink.

10. What does CONGRESS have to do with doping....
...for that matter? Can't the baseball people take care of this on their own? Doesn't Congress have better things to worry about?
