What are they really after?
The neocons, the PNACers, bush, blair, (sharon?) - whatever this organization is, and whether its headed by the US or not, what the hell is their ultimate goal? Why do they want more than they already have? How rich can you be? How powerful can you be? What the hell are they really after? Can it really be just greed at all costs? Or some monstrous need to control?

They are obviously trying to achieve something. Desparately trying imho. What are they trying so hard to do?

3. A Pax-Americana

An american world empire. Now, why they would want that I don't know. I would love to see a unified, democratic planet and that day must come eventually if we are to survive as a species but the way they are going about it is all wrong and for all the wrong reasons.

We should unify in order to shepherd our global resources whereas they want to exploit those resources. We should unify through international diplomacy and the UN, they want to do it at the point of a gun.

For the life of me I cannot fathom the motives of the greedy, it just does not register in my brain. How much money and power is enough??

on edit: brain is faster than the fingers.

4. a tv commercial i'd like to make..
i've always thought this would make a thought-provoking commercial about greed in today's society..

a man gets to the airport and checks in, he finds out that his plane leaves in ten minutes, so he heads to the buffett to get a bite to eat. he then proceeds to load up 3-4 plates overflowing with food, bugging the attendant not to be chintzy with the carved ham, etc.. then he makes dessert, all the while checking his watch and noting that he only has like 3 minutes to eat and make it to the gate..

he takes a few bites off each plate, drinks 1/4 of a beverage, then gets up and leaves with the camera staying on all the food he left behind..

it would close with something like.. "how much do you need?" or something like that.. i've got other ones, but that one always sticks in my head.

it would probably help if he was really fat too :)

i don't understand greed either.. i gave up materialism a long time ago, i like nice things, but not to the point of living my life solely to attain them.

9. They want the business climate that American empire can secure...
I don't think they really want the trouble of managing an empire. But in their dreams the entire world is open and receptive to "free trade" in that world the global plutocrats can grow and secure their wealth.

6. The simple answer really begs the question...
Edited on Fri Sep-12-03 09:34 PM by HereSince1628
To maintain and use the United States' global Military Hegemony to ensure its global Economic Hegemony by creating an international political environment that is favorable to free trade.

I know that's a mouthful but actually that is hundreds of pages, simmered for months to get it to one complete sentence.

They use the terms military and economic hegemony, although they prefix them by saying benevolent.

They would say democracy, I say political environment, since on reflection I don't think democracy has anything to do with it.

They say free trade, but they really mean profitability for the global plutocrats (robber barons of international corporations).

Currently, they realize that American hegemony is predicated on access to oil, without it our adolescent empire and their dreams collapse.

I realize that this subject really can't adequately be compressed into 6 sentences, but thats PNAC in a nutshell.

7. China!
Well, a blockade of China. A Turkish friend of mind recently brought this theory to my attention. She said the US is trying to build a buffer against China, like Russia did when it built the Soviet Union. Afghanistan, Iraq, possibly Iran next? That's a pretty nice start.

China is the rising threat for these people. Since we can't do anything sensible like engage the country and build economic ties so that 20 years from now we'll be closer to allies than enemies, the obvious thing to do is lock the doors, put bars on all the windows, and arm ourselves to the teeth.

8. Well that just makes me wonder what China's ultimate goal is...
Or whether if it is being made to appear that China is a threat so that justification will exist when/if we attack, provocation optional...
