Another bush appointment - Meet the new USTR Rob Portman

This position is probably not all that significant inside the US.. but out here beyond the borders it matters quite a lot.

On the basis of what I see at the above link I think we can safely kiss the DOHA round goodbye....not that it ever had much of a chance. From the look of things Rob knows how to toe the line in general although not altogether.

Looking closely you see he

Voted NO on keeping Cuba travel ban until political prisoners released. (Jul 2001)
Voted YES on starting implementation of Kyoto Protocol. (Jun 2000)

Mindyou those votes were quite a while ago now.. I wonder if Cheney knows.
