Limbaugh on ANWR: "nothing but snow and rock," wildlife are "stupid"...
Syndicated radio host Rush Limbaugh lampooned criticism of the Bush administration's plans to drill for oil in Alaska's Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, claiming that the ANWR region is "nothing but snow and rock" and asserting that the wildlife living there "wishes it didn't, but it's too stupid to figure out how to move anywhere."

Limbaugh also claimed that the caribou population in Alaska has "quadrupled" as a result of the installation of the Trans-Alaska oil pipeline, suggesting that concerns that drilling will negatively affect caribou are unfounded. In fact, the Los Angeles Times reported in 2002 that a U.S. Geological Survey report warned that "oil development would 'most likely' restrict the area available for caribou calving, leading to impaired reproduction and calf survival for the 123,000 caribou" in the coastal regions of ANWR. Similarly, the Anchorage Daily News reported on March 6 that the area where drilling would occur is a plain that "slims to a relatively narrow stretch in the so-called '1002 Area,' leading some biologists to worry that oil development would have a much greater impact there on caribou and other wildlife." Media Matters for America has noted other conservative media figures, including Fox News co-host Sean Hannity and Fox News reporter William La Jeunesse, making the same misleading claim about caribou in ANWR.

1. So, when they say "syndicated radio host"
do they also mean "paranoid OxyContin-sucking whack job"?

10. yeah -- I've been up North, and I didn't see caribou lying around ...
... in a drugged-up stupor. They and the bears, lemmings, wolves, etc. know when to shut up!

The addict on loan from gawd was reading about Caribou Coffee quadrupling its cafes in the Wall Street Journal.

Drug addled brains are easily confused.

7. Limbaugh is the reich-wing talk show host I most detest.
Edited on Thu Mar-17-05 10:23 PM by Ladyhawk
The reason is, I had to listen to him when my father played his show every day on the radio. If you've read Al Franken's book, Rush Limbaugh is a Big, Fat Idiot and Other Observations, you know that Franken had to pay people to listen to the buffoon--and they still couldn't do it.

Sweet Jesus, I hate Rush Limbaugh!

8. This explains this comment
posted on a discussion board by an ignorant freeper:

If they put an oil rig up there they probably won't care if I do a little 4wheeling up there, would they?

I bet there are some good areas to kick up some mud and crawl some rocks there.

13. You know
I've always thought Limbaugh was an evil, hate-spewing, whack-job. I have never understood his appeal with anyone. Just being in the same room with someone listening to him would lose me IQ points.

Now that we know about his drug problem I now know he is the one that has blown IQ points (if he ever had any to blow).

Every time this wingnut opens his yap, more and more stupidity spills forth. His brainless dribble knows no limits.

14. A well orchestrated campaign is in full swing.
They really want to drill don't they. Does any one find it suspicious that gasoline prices are also raising nation wide? More than rising oil prices are in play.

16. Wildlife are not nearly as stupid as Rush
Has he ever even been there? I haven't either but I have seen picures. Quite a beautiful place. I read somewhere that the caribou populations are okay but it is not because of the previous drilling. I thought it was because they have had several relatively mild years with plenty of food, etc.
