Today Show: 40 minute opening of Scott, Baretta, and Michael Jackson
A orgy of propogandism (is that a word?)this AM. No mention of Iraq, ANWR, the appointments--a fucking disgrace. I'm just ranting here, I know what we have for media. But no matter how many times I see it, I'm still appalled. <rant off>

1. Aren't the morning shows primarily meant to be entertainment
with a little news thrown in? The weather reports are the most useful segments.

to report the news. They sure as hell reported "the news" when Bill Clinton was in office.

3. Back when I was working I always turned on the morning
news to get informed before I went to work. I really didn't have a chance to read a newspaper until lunch. There was the fluff, but they made a point back then of informing you with hard news as well. Now I don't watch any news at any time unless it's BBC or NWI. I prefer to listen to AAR for any news bits they have.

5. the weatherperson is a comedian
luckily they will cut away for a local report from local news.

I agree with the OP, watching the performers is more depressing then the actual news itself, or the lack of news in fact.

One would think the early reports should be of the most importance, since who knows what could have happened in the hours we sleep?

it's all infotainment anymore.

6. OMG! No fashion segment?
The first 2 minutes of each hour are devoted to "news headlines". After that it's ego feeding time at the NBC Zoo.

7. sorry about that house mugger
who held a gun to your head and forced you to watch all 40 minutes. They telegraph in advance what they are going to cover. It's simple: turn off the TV, listen to Radio Pacifica and roll a fat one....you need it.

it. As an able-bodied human being with a few brain cells working, I am aware that I can change the channel and I often do. But as I was getting ready for work, I didn't do that, but listening, I decided to see how long they were going to go on with that trash. Forty minutes is excessive even by their nonstandards. I think they broke a record for bullshitting.
