Wolfowitz/World Bank/European Reactions
Europe thinks Wolfowitz is the worst man for the job... Except the German conservatives. When (not if) they win the next elections the US will have one minion more.

2. But the German
conservatives said that they were happy with the nomination because it removed him from the Bush admin...

3. Can they stop it?

Is there any way for them to force another nominee? Not that the another Bush candidate is likely to be much better, but at the same time it's hard to imagine someone worse.

First of all, it makes an obvious lie to the notion that was promoted just a month ago that the US changing it's ways and would 'listen' to Europe. I don't even know anyone who believed that one.

4. It's only a NOMINATION. A vote of 30% against Wolfowitz can
block his election. If Europe unites and does this, it's over.

5. That's what I tought.
This whole thing doesn't pass the smell test. Two weeks ago he "wasn't running". I can't imagine anyone signalled a green light.

6. I'm afraid they won't. The US will have their way as always.
A little threat here, a little blackmailing there...
