Looking for recent civil unions/gay marriage polls
For a LTTE I am putting together, can somebody give me links to recent polls on public support of civil unions & gay marriage? I am hoping to find national type polls. There was also a recent study done to show that gay marriage is actually economically beneficial that I need to look up. I'm already prepped with how Connecticut was just rated the healthiest place to raise a child, how our divorce rates are well below the national average, our public schools are highly rated and I think we're also one of the healthier states in general.

This is the whacko I am responding to:

I am opposed to the underhanded, cowardly manner in which the General Assembly is trying to impose same-sex civil unions on the people of Connecticut.

The liberal left in the legislature is obviously afraid it cannot win in the market of free ideas by taking this issue to a vote of the people and persuading the voters that civil unions are good for the state.

Civil Unions are same-sex marriage in all but name, a back-door method of imposing an ideology on the electorate that it doesn't want.

Too many people in Connecticut are sadly out of touch with the rest of the country. I work for a division of United Technology Corp. and most of my co-workers are from out of state, many from the Midwest and the South.

Passing a civil-union law would only confirm for those from out of state what an unhealthy climate for families exists here, making it more difficult for Connecticut businesses to attract quality workers and making it more likely they will leave the state.

1. Any Excuse Serves a Tyrant and..
all the excuses to deny gays the same and equal treatment that the rest of the population takes for granted amounts to no more than excuses. Gays seem to be good enough to serve this society, be taxed by it, be lectured to by it, and apparently to be led around by the nose by it. However, gays never seem to be good enough for equal treatment. Gays in their misuse by this society have lots of 'historical' company..indian, black, hispanic, italian, irish, german, japanese, puerto rican, hispanic, women, etc..Seemingly, the white anglo-saxon population here has always needed a group to mistreat..So with no more said 'nothing is new'
