Liberal Psychosis
And I have both types.

The first is the hope that through legal and ethical means, our principals will be accepted over conservative principals. That the same fully corrupted set of lawmakers will change their ways, turn on their corporate masters, and see the light.

The second is the pitiful level of discourse we are forced. By this I am referring to the frustration language that becomes about 80% of all replies. You know, "Bush is the Anti-Christ", "Delay is a slut", "Haliburton is a happy war-profitteer". We have been reduced to cussing out loud, because in the present state of affairs, liberal ideals are not a part of the march towards..........?

If we were a sports team, we'd break records for consecutives losses.

1. you forgot to add self deprecatory

actually, what we liberals have is heart. We wouldn't be as frustrated as we are about the world if the world today didn't go so strongly against our sense of fairness and rightness and humanity.

It's not about losses - evil wins a lot, often by cheating. That's what makes it different from us. We do need to be tougher, and even "meaner" in our fights. Quite often we're not fighting for people's hearts and minds - most people are heartless idiots until something affects them personally. We're fighting for what is right, and for what is responsible, against people who only ever give a shit about themselves.

Don't lose heart.

3. Yes, tougher and meaner
We should be more like Greenpeace protecting the whales. I haven't yet lost my heart. But my mind is going fast.

2. You mean if doing the same thing over and over again expecting
a certain result, and that not happening ? With clinical diagnosis that may apply but in the political realm "psychosis" in our current circumstances is actually DESIREABLE.

"..March towards freedom" means become like "us". The rest of the world recognizes this and wants no part of that.

BTW, the Boston Red Sox finally made it to the promised land...so can we liberals. When the sum of all eight years of Bush are added up, I'll bet there is still no 'net' job gains ! I'll bet we are still tied up in Iraq. I'll bet that the "frustration language" you speak of is coming from...Republicans by that time.

Worst President Ever, Legacy of ... what ?

6. Much like being the sane
patient in an asylum. There is no guarantee that this neocon dream world will get crushed. We could be in the initial stages of a Fascists regime, a form of Theocractic Authoritarian Dictatorship unknown since the early Popes.

Or, that church lady that with the Bush/Cheney sticker will suddenly understand.

4. Re: pitiful level of discourse
You're right of course. Posts like you describe are pitiful but I submit to you that those posts are a result of feeling powerless. We've used the traditional mechanisms to unseat the Republican Party and it's failed, and, even worse, the entire mechanism (elections) is now questionable making us feel even more powerless. What are we left with? Cussing out loud.

It's Time to Stop Being Hit...a letter from Michael Moore

I would like to pass on to you an essay that a friend who works with abuse victims sent to me. It was written by a woman who has spent years working as an advocate for victims of domestic abuse and she sees many parallels between her work and the reaction of many Democrats to last month’s election. Her name is Mel Giles and here is what she had to say…

7. Our worst collective problem is procrastination.
In my humble opinion. Nobody speaks out about anything until the day before when it's too late.

Why wasn't Kerry (or the DNC) pushing hard against black box voting in the months (or even years) leading up to the 2004 Election? They never did, and now Kerry's opposition to the Ohio results sounds like sour grapes whining.
