Would you have your picture taken with Bush?
Let's say you were going to be awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom for saving a bus load of school children that crashed into a ravine. You are a national sensation and hero. You are called to Capitol Hill to be presented an award by Bush. Would you accept it from Bush? Would you have your picture taken with him?

1. Nope.
Wouldn't accept it from him, no picture taken. And I'd hold a press conference to say exactly why.

10. Concur.
And if, by some misfortune, I was placed in a circumstance where the Chimperor attempted to pat me on the back or place his hands on me in some other fashion, I'd break his fucking arm and claim self-defense. He can keep his filthy hands to himself.

3. No--and my deceased mother before me--
she was stopped at a drive-by when Bush 1 was in office. He came out to shake hands for a photo-op. When he came near my mother, she turned her back. (Of course, you get arrested for that now.)

I would say yes, but I would make some sort of anti-bush statement during or after the ceremony while I had the press's ear.
The impact of THAT would be greater than just refusing the award.

13. Funny you should mention this.
Being that I'm an American with a penis, I often fantasize about being a quarterback winning a Super Bowl on the last play of the game (I know I'm not alone here).

Anyhow, I elaborated on this fantasy a little and started thinking about what I would do when I went to the White House to get my congratulations. I decided that my course of action would be that when Bush walked along the line of players to shake each of their hands, I would either turn my back to him or look him in the eye and put my hand in my pocket.

On a similar note, I have always thought that it would be a powerful gesture for some (or all...a guy can dream) Democrats turning their backs to the podium during the State of the Union address. Or even walking out.

55. I honestly wasn't aware of that.
It's amazing how relative "respect" is when your guy is president.

I am still in disbelief over exactly how lying about a blowjob is an impeachable offense while lying about why 1,500 troops and 100,000 Iraqis are dead is "ends justifying the means."

I would love to have the chance to get that close to Bush to give him a piece of my mind!

I would happily pose for my photo while flashing the devil sign behind his head, then turn to him and call him a lying sack of shit who has brought shame to our country right to his ugly face.

Sigh, a gal can dream, can't she???? :)

You know, in Old America I think you could have probably done that to a President and gotten away with it because it is a Free Speech issue and you haven't harmed him.

But in Imperial Amerika, just for daring to call the Noble and Godly Fuhrer a Cowardly Tyrannical Monster to his face would likely get you a minimum of 3 months and probably more like 3 years.

Totalitarian Nations sicken me. Ours is no exception.

44. My wife DID (funny story).
When GWB was governor of Texas, he gave the commencement address when my wife got her BA at a liberal arts school in Texas. When she walked across the stage to shake his hand (we still have the photo), she said to him, "say something nice about atheists in your next speech. Heh. Interestingly, in his next speech he said something like, "blah blah, to people of all different faiths and to people of no faith at all."

But seriously -- I would actually feel more inclined to issue a statement declining the award, with thanks. Adding that I was not deserving of a medal, since I was only doing what would be natural for any citizen in a crisis where lives were in danger -- rather than sitting around reading a book, say, and waiting for somebody else to do something.

Too subtle?
