Is the Democratic leadership afraid of the right?
http://www.nytimes.com/2005/03/19/national/19pols.html?th

"Many Congressional Democrats were biting their tongues Friday as they witnessed what they considered an egregious misuse of power by Republicans. They pointed to public opinion polls that show support for Mr. Schiavo's right to decide his wife's fate, but they also fear the power of the mobilized right."

I know a lot here believe that the 2004 election was stolen. Aside from that, it was still a blistering loss for the Democrats. Do you think they're scared?

1. Hell yes, they're scared
But it's not that they're afraid of the "Right" per se. The Democratic Leadership is afraid of being ridiculed in the media. How much more craven could you get? Ooops! Stay tuned...

2. Of course
they are. Why else would someone like Hillary Clinton start siding with repugs on at least some issues? Why else would the party be moving to the right to try to get some of the attention? It makes me sick.

4. Federal Right to health care
Let people get a good taste of how far these Republicans are willing to go.

Follow up by forcing the issue of the right to health care.

If we can get something good out of this nightmare, I'm all for it.

Meantime, Sun Hudson died yesterday. The first time a court has overruled the wishes of a parent or guardian in favor of a hospital. Where's the right-to-lifers on that?

5. Sadly so!
The congressional democratic leadership is so much in fear of the rePIGs that it sickens anyone with "librul" conscience.

7. Yes, they're afraid the Bush regime will declare martial law and subject
them to torture and death.

They remember Carnahan.

They remember Wellstone's small plane "accident."

They remember Daschle and Leahy being targetted for anthrax.

Do you remember?

8. That's a no brainer
They're scared to death and have been so busy for the last 30 years trying to build the utopia that they have never considered, nor are in any way equipped for, a hostile takeover of the government.

It's like Neil Young said, "We're finally on our own".

11. The power the right weilds is truly scary
They control the Media and without a friendly Media a politician can kiss their job good bye. That is what they are afraid of and yet they were complicit in making the right that way.....They allowed the fairness doctrine to go by the wayside. In 1992 and 1993 they had the power to make credible changes but what did they do? They voted against Clinton's Health Care Proposal along with the Republicans. What good got accomplished during Clinton's first year? Family leave act is all I can think of. Compared to how the Republicans operate. They rammed as much through as they possibly could and have plans to really ream us this term....Scared is a tame word, they are terrified..
