Poll question: If you were in a persistent vegetative state...
If you were in a persistent vegetative state, would you want to be kept alive artificially?

1. My family has instructions
to hold a pillow over my face before they'd allow this to happen to me.

2. Hell NO! And I have a Durable Power of Attorney that states just that!
The man that is to be my "agent" in the event that the DPOA is needed is a hard assed, take no-shit attorney and not a member of my family. I want my wishes respected and I want someone that will fight for me when I cannot fight.

Don't rely on verbally expressing your wishes folks. Do a POA and make sure the person you put in charge has the balls to stand up for you.

5. Yes! Keep my brainstem, AI canal functioning forever!
Bankrupt my family, force them to visit me every day, pay me my SS retirement benefits, let me tie up a bed and medical team until my medulla oblongata simply falls apart in 2170.

It's not for everyone, but it really is a dream of mine.

7. If anyone is in such a state, how would they know?
Sort of like asking a potato if it prefers boiling or frying.

15. I agree. This ghoulish circling of the vultures is disgusting.
The question should be, why has it taken so long for her wishes to be carried out?

My wife and I both have living wills forbidding such interference.

16. Her family should have listened to her husband, but they prefer...
...she lie there like a hundred pounds of meat. Her intellect is long gone.

19. No!
I wouldn't want to make some nurse clean off my bedsores, and suction mucus out of the feeding tube every hour, if I weren't going to wake up someday.
