I think I finally understand the rights understanding of "life"
and I have now realized it's based on complete and utter ignorance of medical science.

Some of these fools "believe" a first trimester pregnancy is equal to a nine month pregnancy. Apparently they also "believe" one who is brain dead is still "alive".

It seems they have next to NO (and/or greatly flawed) medical knowledge of the human reproductive system, as well as the nervous system. Because of this utter ignorance they just don't seem to grasp exactly how a human body functions. I'm going to chalk it up to religious fundie education or the fact that some people are just idiots.

These people are pathetic and the fact they get ANY air time whatsoever is ridiculous. But I'm glad, because I now understand. Unfortunately their reasoning is even worse than I realized. It can completely be summarized as ignorance.

3. You're missing an important distinction
Edited on Sat Mar-19-05 03:04 PM by LoganW
The ring leaders are using millions of sheeple who are uneducated and ignorant to accomplish a political agenda. (much like Hitler) The majority of these people are oblivious to a political agenda, they are simply incompetent.

8. Thanks, but I wasn't missing any distinctions.
Your opinion is yours; mine is mine.

And in my opinion, it's whatever fits their political agenda. As in "party uber alles".

2. As I commented in another post...
...for people who believe in a perfect heavenly afterlife, they sure do seem to be afraid of death, don't they?

I'd further add, in response to your comments here, that these folks are consistent in one thing: They LOVE to force people to do what they want, but NEVER lift a finger to actually HELP.

For instance, in the Schiavo case, Jeb Bush was perfectly willing to sign a bill forcing Terri's husband to keep her alive indefinitely, whatever the cost. But there's never been the least suggestion that Florida taxpayers help pay for it. Even the attempts in the U.S. Congress to force the feeding tube to be reinserted -- NONE of them contained provisions to help pay for it.

By the by -- welcome to DU, LoganW!

10. Is he paying the cost?

or money from the medical malpratice suit? The sooner she dies means more money for hubby and his girlfriend. And isnt it a bitch that so much of this money has been spent on legal fees instead of medical fees.

4. You just realized this?
Science? WHAT science? They believe in the Bible and Creationism, not SCIENCE. They want to teach the world was created in 7 DAYS. We are DOOMED with these people in power.

6. It's just so hard to accept
I've heard this said before, but I always considered it to be a relatively small number of freaks. With the recent activity, I now see it's far FAR more of a problem than I realized.

7. And I often think if God did indeed create this world
in 7 days, He did a lousy job of it when he made Republicans.

9. It's a child's viewpoint, and every child thinks he's solid,
like a potato, under his skin. Fundies think this solid stuff has been breathed onto by their god and animated. It's why they desperately cling to the notion that prayer can and will cure everything, because that solid stuff under their skin is only working cause god wants it to, right?

No amnount of education can reach people who willfully cling to such a total lack of understanding of the world around them. Since god did everything, all their questions are answered, and you might as well be speaking Sanskrit to them for all they comprehend.

The thing we need to do is start identifying them and their enablers and get them all the hell out of power.

They have enough Democratic Party enablers on this one to keep us really busy.
