"How I learned to Stop Worrying and and Love Terry Schiavo"
AKA "Dr. Strange-Bedfellows"

The way I see it, the repuke party is only in power now because of an unholy marriage between the Evil-Greedy-Ruthless-Asshole repugs and the Holier-than-thou Christian repugs, two groups who would normally be like oil and water. The Terry Schiavo affair is causing this alliance of convenience to come apart at the seams, and I for one am laughing my ass off.

Yesterday's headline in the Palm Beach Post: "Venom over Shiavo case imperils GOP Solidarity"

From the article:
<snip>
"Some of us have been getting threatening calls and emails, calling us very nasty names," said a weeping Sen. Nancy Argenziano, one of the nine republicans who voted Thursday to kill an amendment that other republicans hoped to pass in time to keep Schiavo fed.

<snip>
"It's completely un-republican" said Argenziano, who has a copy of Christine Todd Whitman's book, It's My Party, Too, on her desk. She blames the Christian conservative "machine" for "imposing their will on everybody esle...There's no room for anyone who doesn't agree with them."

<snip>

Yes, it looks like the GOP is about to IMPLODE!!! Grab the popcorn.

And I'm wondering--Will Terry Schiavo ultimately help us win big in 2006?

1. She truly is an amazing woman, if you think she can help us
to win big in 2006.

2. 85% people polled do not wish to be kept alive in such a situation
I also would believe that the same amount would be appalled at having that choice taken away from them. What the Repukes are doing is grandstanding on the body of this woman...this could cause an division in their ranks

4. I KNEW true conservatives would hate this.

The federal government overruling a state-mandated decision? It's a TRUE conservative's worst nightmare.

"Let's get government out of the lives of the people"?

6. Keep Terri alive long enough to run her for Pres in 2008
She'd be a step up from what we've got in the Oval Office now. And she's definately got the common touch.

What did Noam Chomsky say ... something like "the best American Presidents are those who did the least?"

9. At least she would not have taken us to war and given tax cuts to the
Rich. She would be a great president compared to monkey face.

Great signature quote, BTW.

8. While I am enjoying watching the
partial (thus far) implosion of this unholy marriage (good description), I take umbrage at this line:

"And I'm wondering--Will Terry Schiavo ultimately help us win big in 2006?"

YUCK. Just yuck. And it's Terri with an "i."

Yes, this event is apparently causing some seams to rip in the repuke party, and yes that is a VERY good thing, but I have a hard time using this woman to say she can help us win in 2006. That's just going too far.

11. She is already being used by the so called "right to lifers"
To reinforce the antiabortion mantra that "every life is sacred even a brainless one" blah blah blah.

It is so horrific, so macabre, and so unspeakable that they are dragging this poor woman's brainless body into the national spotlight to further a political agenda that my normal sensibilities about this situation have been destroyed.

12. I understand that.
But it doesn't mean you have to do it, too.

It's just my opinion. :shrug: Just seems creepy, that's all. I don't want to be creepy like them.

14. Well I meant her memory would contribute to the overall pro-dem zeitgeist
Not that we would literally strap a sign on her and wheel her around!

10. Neoconservative Repukes and Jesus Freaks
That's a coctail ready to explode as soon as someone switches on the lights. They've been groping in the dark long enough.

15. Yeah, how can we use Terri Schiavo for our own benefit?
How can we milk Terri? There's got to be a way to maximize the benefit to us. Let's think about this real, real hard.

Yuck.
